What's your problem? Why are you on HN? You began the conversation in an incredibly disrespectful and dismissive way, and you're acting like you're the victim. This isn't the place for you.

I love the term "adversarial compatibility". If I had to describe technological progress in computing for the past 40 years, that's what I'd use.

Unfortunately, yes. Despite that, they haven't yet passed anything that undermines encryption and they've passed plenty that helps protect privacy.

On a related note, I recently discovered that the MacOS video player lets you select and copy text from any video you're watching. It's ridiculously cool. I wonder how it works though.

You seem to have fundamentally misunderstood the tragedy of the commons. Yes, public transit is well managed in certain places, so there is no tragedy. That's the point. Public or common resources must be well-managed and regulated o

You could've chosen to take up the cue and discuss JavaFX with me. You chose to be an ass. How is that appropriate for HN?

What does that have to do with it? They're clearly going for the aesthetic without considerations for how users actually interact with it. It's likely they don't even know how what keyboard navigation is like on MacOS, becaus

I like all of them, but if you want a more pure DK-like, War for the Overlord is what I'd recommend. Dungeons is decent, but the split between the above ground and underground isn't great.

They're both unique. I never really played them back then but gave both a try recently. I feel like DK1 has aged better, especially with DK FX. It feels like it could be a modern indie game. It actually looks gorgeous, imo. DK2's

I first thought it was comparing the program Everything with an alternative named Anything. Came away disappointed.

Wow, that's really interesting. I'd love to see comparisons between Apple and more well-known third party manufacturers like Anker, CSL or UGREEN.

Was that a performance limitation or a conscious design choice because of their "cloud" feature?

I don't understand how Unity burns through up to a billion in revenue every single year, yet their engine still feels so half-baked and unpolished. Where's all that money going?

Apparently the "Add to Firefox" button is clickable on FF 119, but it just downloads the xpi and you can't do anything with it. On nightly it installs directly.

If you have nightly, you can go on the normal Firefox addon site and install any addons that have already added mobile support. You used to have to manually make a collection and add addons to it, then add that collection to Firefox. But no

AMD can't do that for Windows. Why do they have to add a hardware component to their CPU's to do it like Intel can afford to? > Intel’s Thread Director controller puts an embedded microcontroller inside the processor such that

But why should it be on AMD? This needs to be a part of the OS as it is like in Linux, or as a user you're penalized for picking the company with less solid connections to Microsoft and less budget available to do something like Intel&

Windows 11's "support" is more of a lazy hack. It doesn't work without the CPU literally telling it how to schedule threads across its cores: https://www.anandtech.com/show/16881/a-deep-dive-int

I'm surprised that after 3 years since Intel's first big/little CPU (Lakefield), Windows still doesn't really support mixed cores. And that's over 10 years after the first ARM CPU with that kind of configuration. Wi

Definitely agree with everything you wrote. I just moved out of a major German city into a small town because I lost my apartment due to Eigenbedarf, then was unable to find a new place in the city at an affordable price in the time I had.
