   Not equivalent at all. DDG gathers the content they provide themselves. Video sites rely on users for content, which is why critical mass matters. Why get 100 views on peertube when you can 100000 views on Youtube?

   I’d argue that “legacy” is only really used to try to sell you something. It’s a marketing term and doesn’t really say anything useful about the nature of a system.

    I too have lastname @ gmail, and I find that many people with the same surname as me, and who have firstname.lastname @gmail don't know the difference between a period and a space in an email address.
