I think eventually the point is "just carry on doing what you have to do and get things done regardless of what happens". a stoic, stable and confident mentality which entails a lot of planning and calm decisionmaking helps. Eithe

I always remember what Chomsky said about this: Business newspapers actually tend to be as true-to-reality and BS-free as possible, since they need to present information as accurately as possible for businesspeople to make the right decisi

If you want more alternative perspectives, especially about the East, South China Morning Post could be an interesting choice. IMO they do a decent job in presenting opinions from both sides (definitely nothing similar to the CCP propaganda

Two very different beasts. When you use the mobile payment system all your traces and data are being exposed, even much more than using cash. While people who need anonymity, or at least want to be hard to track, be it for buying drugs or e

So far the Homebrew experience has been better for me than any other Linux distribution's package manager, except for Arch, which is still unparalleled. The biggest problem of Homebrew is how incredibly slow it is, though I guess this

Parts of that article are a bit dubious. Good practices don't have much to do with a language being statically typed or dynamically typed. You can write awful, convoluted code with a wizardry approach in Java and C++, but clean, easily

I've also wondered about it (though I know that bring a server is still by no means an easy task). I think Freakonomics had an episode on topping and reported (advertised?) some restaurants that split the tip between servers and cooks,

That doesn't make much sense because adult vision doesn't change much. It should be perfectly valid to use an old prescription unless you want to re-check your vision. I've never seen this law in Asia or Europe and people are

I would say every capable programmer should be a "generalist" in a sense and be able to transfer their skills with relatively little effort. If they can't, they are not really that good at the abstract concepts. Still this do

I would say that it's the same for the other trades as well though. For example, people might imagine that learning a new human language is trivial with the proliferation of misleading advertisements such as Duolingo or Babbel, but to

It could also pay off to be a specialist instead of a generalist though. Depends on what you want to do. Say if you become an expert in large scale distributed systems or some cutting edge AI techniques which require tons of data, which onl
