I am pretty sure that the main reason a lot of folded start-up companies, killed projects etc. do not just open source their code is 'code pride' in some form. No one wants to publish a 'hack' to the scrutiny of a elite community of program

It's also fairly 'common knowledge' that taking $60k and some hacker fame from Google in a legitimate setting is a VERY legitimate way of setting yourself up for a $100k/month job at Google or any reputable infosec company. Selling exploits

If I was a white/grey-hat hacker prodding for exploits for lulz and fame, an extra $60k would come in pretty handy for something I would be doing for free anyway. Also, not to forget is that $60k is a LOT of money to most people that are no

Open letter to every UI designer trying to change 30+ years of usability of desktop interfaces, mouse actions and shortcuts behavior to 'iPad style' that has been out all of 3 years: DON'T!!

You might want to move away from Mac's then. For some reason that's where it's all heading. By the end of 2012 you will be squeezing and swyping all over your 27" screen.

OS version update for something that Windows would call an 'optional update'. Way to squeeze every drop of PR out of a few new icons Apple!

I for one am a VERY happy owner of a Nokia Lumia 800 (WP 7.5) and after the news that Nokia shipped 1.3 million Windows phones in ONE week after the launch of the new line I doubt it's going anywhere but very well.

I think it's even more odd that Apple somehow has become the medias corporate prodigal son that can do nothing wrong. People need to realize that Apple is no longer the upshot company trying to survive under the boot heel of Microsoft, but

I think it's pretty much proven without a doubt that public opinion can sway corporations and politics. I really don't understand this form of 'Corporate protectionism'.

I don't get it. How is it NOT a valid point of concern that Apple has 70% margins on some products that are produced by extreme low income workers under bad conditions?

Nothing Apple does will ever surprise me. Managing to profile the world's single most profitable Top-5 tech company as a 'Peoples movement' is nothing short of genius! I for one welcome the iDontneedtothinkformyself. (Wild guess that there

I hate that I feel this is an 11th hour response. I guess I just don't understand how a 99% community sponsored website with little direct advertising income or large sponsors would drag their feet on the issue. I do understand the 'late to

It's really hard to not chuckle when the US government condemns the Iranian crackdowns on 'online freedom' while themselves pushing for similar restrictions and threatening our freedom of speech. By the people for the people?

From a point where you take bribes (don't call it lobbying) from companies that would profit from SOPA and consequently vote for something you have no idea what it is, it's immoral and should get your ass fired!

Though since Trent Reznor, Smashing Pumpkins etc. have used the same model for 4-5 years now I wouldn't exactly say that Louis CK was 'first'. Of course, he's sort of a 'pet project' and lovechild of Reddit etc. But I'm pretty sure that the
