And this was formally updated post 9/11 with the AUMF (Acceptable Use of Military Force) which gave the president quite sweeping powers without direct congressional approval. The caveat is that the AUMF is only for 9/11 responsibl

Thomas, what are your thoughts on micro-vms such as kata containers? You can use them as a backend for docker in place of runc. I'm sure you're well aware, but for the readers, they are isolated with a CPU's VT instructions w

I love the part where you all are downvoting factual replies because they don’t fit your narrative. Stay salty friends :)

Modern SMRs (small nuclear reactors) can literally use spent fuel rods from legacy nuclear reactors as their primary fuel. This isn’t conjecture but simple fact. The engineering has dramatically improved even if public sentiment hasn’t. Mod

Perhaps I should have clarified. Solar panels can not be recycled profitably, so in practice they go to landfills. Sure there are niche recycling firms that lose money doing so, but they’re the extreme rarity vs the norm. Here’s a nice arti

There was a study a few years back that saw radical reduction in bird strikes simply by painting a single blade a contrasting color.

Modern SMR nuclear reactors use precious generation spent fuel rods as their own fuel, and by design, are impossible to cause a meltdown. I have 21.1kW of solar panels on my barn, and nuclear is still the cleanest energy at scale, but a lot

If you don’t care about the output or handle it manually, use detail over nohup, it’s a bit nicer.

Have you tried k3s? I think it would run on a tiny vps like that and is a full stack. Instead of etcd it has sqlite embedded.

US military gps is encrypted and heavily used FHSS. It is jam resistant, and can’t be jammed without significant expertise and know how. Russia has some of the best EW chops in the world (after the NSA perhaps), and they struggled to succes

They’ve done similar things with hundreds of cell phone cameras and digital techniques to piece it all together. The prototype was called Gorgon Stare[1] and could surveil an entire city at once. [1] https://www.sncorp.com/c

FHSS[1] has made jamming difficult in US military communications for decades. It doesn’t make it impossible but jamming the entire spectrum is nearly impossible at scale for almost everyone. At best it would affect small areas until the US

The approach overall is a good one. It’s mutually assured (economic) destruction. Dictators just don’t care however and Europe hasn’t had a ton of those since the 90s sans Putin.
