I think you're being a bit unfair here. He did reference himself quite a bit, but it was relevant -- he was talking from experience about the last bubble. There's a lot of talk about a bubble and he made some good points about how if we are

It's not that the poker sites failed to block countries where online gambling is illegal, it is that they allegedly committed bank fraud (and money laundering) by masking payments from gamblers in the US as non-gambling related items so as

It looks like Congress did look at changing the law in 2010, not sure what happened to this, NY Times article: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/07/29/us/politics/29gamble.html Banning online gambling doesn't really make sense if you still perm

In this case the banning of online gambling has actually resulted in the Government receiving less revenue from tax because the online gambling sites have moved offshore. So I'm not sure in this case that the law has been used for plunder.

I agree that many people regard .com, .net, etc, to be country neutral -- and I personally would prefer it if they were -- but that isn't really the way they've been used for the past couple of decades. I think most people would agree that

Using Geo IP wouldn't have been foolproof as you've pointed out, but it would have at the very least shown an intent to comply with the laws in the US. The poker sites did not use Geo IP because they did not want to lose the revenue stream

Is anyone else not very outraged that these poker sites have been shut down (or at least domains seized)? They were indeed knowingly selling their services to US customers despite that being illegal. They could have used GEO IP blocking to

Yes, fair point. The hardest part of learning Swedish for me was learning how to pronounce å ä ö and associated words. Took about 6 months of frustration, but after that it got quite a bit easier.

Two things annoy me about Unity: 1. The menu bar at the top is now wasted space. 2. The task bar is on the side. Shortcuts to spreadsheet, worth authoring, etc, should be hidden away in the menu. Honestly how many new spreadsheets do you cr

It does seem a bit odd that a tool that is ripe for collaboration is not available to the organizations that use Google Apps. I don't need to collaborate with my friends on anything, but I need to collaborate with my colleagues daily.
