I equate bubbles with cycles. So in that sense we're always in a "bubble" of some sort. The question is are we at the bottom of the bubble, the mid-point or the top. It's everyones job to workout at which point in the cycle we are so that t

Perhaps it is from growing up with Star Trek, but for me, space exploration and settlement is a no-brainer. I almost feel as if that's our purpose as a species. We're meant to evolve and expand. That's what we've been doing since day one. S

Not really. If it was revealed that new prisoners were being sent to Guantanamo under Obama's watch, then that would be pretty bad, but that's not what is happening. The deal is that there is a bunch of detainee's who may or may not have

The one thing I don't like about using Facebook (or similar sites) for commenting on sites like TechCrunch is that my Facebook friends couldn't give two hoots in hades about my "tech world" blabbering. For them it's mostly irrelevant. I don

In my experience many of the anonymous comments which are mean, snarky, sarcastic, etc, often have a valid point, but the commenter is too lazy to articulate that point in a way that does not come off as trolling. Perhaps they don't have en

It's not greedy, it's just not a good idea to try and capitalize on a service that isn't running on all cylinders yet. Having said that, definitely a chicken and egg problem. I would worry about getting users before starting to charge for t

3D secure is not very user friendly at all. Most users aren't setup with 3D secure details or have forgotten the necessary details to use it. Perhaps it's a good idea in principle, much like OpendID, but in the real world it's a pain to use

Sorry about that. I've checked now. I even up voted your answer because it deserves at least one up vote. But I would say that perhaps your overall SO experience would be better if your comments on SO were less abrasive. Your answer might h

The prize is the satisfaction you get from helping other people with a great answer. The reputation is window dressing. If you think of rep as the end goal, then of course it is not worth your time. If you enjoy answering people's questions

Exactly. Reputation is supposed to illustrate your expertise. If you gain 1000 rep points in the cooking SE, does that mean that you should have 1000 rep points in the programming SE? Of course not, since your expertise is with cooking and
