What are you doing posting here? Go do something about it instead of lamenting the end.

I would also like to echo this. Yes most of everyone on HN hate Electron and they can point out any number of reasons why it's bad, and they would correct. In spite of the technical problems Electron is still seeing growth and continue

Within Clojure almost all data is directly serializable to data literals. Java objects don't have this property directly and are guaranteed to exposed everything via methods. Datafy and Nav just give Clojure the power to codify your ob

This is a good post for anyone using core.async because a lot of this I had to discover by hand and it takes a long time to unearth this knowledge. Thanks for the write up!

Just would like to say that being able to leverage an immutable DB at work is amazing, just give it a try and value (timestamp) and you can roll back to any point in the dbs history. Has saved so much heartache between debugging and undoing

My personal experience is that most programmers either like or don't like type systems. If you don't I would highly recommend Clojure, if you do I would highly recommend Haskell.

This is getting better but unfortunately your best bet is still to read some examples of good open source projects. If you or anyone interested in some good starting places for good Clojure see: - https://github.com/gothi

It's all tradeoffs, all the way down. The good thing about Java is most problems are solved or have easy paths forward by dipping into the massive development talent pool.

I think that part of the power of LISP is it's dynamic nature but if you want typed options they exist for Clojure and Racket. There is also development on a language called Carp that aims to be a Clojure style language for C https:&#

I just want to say that the tooling setup isn't great and you kinda have to buy into a small ecosystem to do clojurescript Dev and the easiest is probably to use lein+lein-figwheel. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

Yeah, because the JVM can't do TCO you can't have nice recursion. The options in the language provides are good enough but definitely not the most ergonomic.

Instead of just saying wrong, say why this opinion is wrong. Otherwise you come as smug and looking down or manipulative and trying to steer the conversation.

I can contribute some. Mostly it comes when you attack problems and conceptualize your solution to that problem, it does not come when looking for a library or digging through the API. Almost all of the problems you will encounter in your d

I have a similar situation to yourself. Honestly I have found that working environments become "soiled" for me over time. I try to constantly mix up where I am working in my place or get out of the house to a coffee shop to work i

I would be curious to hear why. Where I work currently is full stack Clojure and I love it but have a few gripes (refactoring can be a pain) but overall it feels like a huge boon.

Generally when it comes to interoperability with JS the problem stems from assumptions made by the people designing the JS APIs and what is idiomatic in the compiles-to-js Lang. Clojurescript, Reason, Purescript, and Elm all have a specific
