You don't seem to have a lot of content actually on the site. My suggestion would be to build a phrase table for country names, and set a cookie after the user has entered their home country for use later on.

I agree, it's much preferable than to tabbing to it (since most sites don't use tabindexes).

This is one of the things that I feel is most misunderstood in HTML, the page's information should be specific to that page where possible. It's tempting to have a description that describes all your pages simply for easiness (hell W3S go

Wasn't quite sure who this article was aimed at. Started off with updates that might interest an Ubuntu follower but finished with comment seemingly aimed at the new Linux user; that "you should try it because it's free".

I don't know whether you'd need shell access for Python (I'm only just starting to learn it myself) but that could be an idea to consider.

In my experience Windows hosting (I'm aware of a Linux-compatible version of ASP.net, don't know how good it is might even be for classic ASP) is a bit more expensive than Linux hosting (which is typically used for PHP - for compatibility a

I experimented a little with this a while back but I didn't get very far. My first assumption was to rely on keywords in the article, and match them with articles from other sources, but I wasn't able to find a good solution to finding thos

I've used Windows pretty much all my life, but started out with Linux (Ubuntu, briefly openSUSe and back to Ubuntu again) a couple of months back. I don't see many problems with Windows apart from it doesn't like moving User documents/data

Just to shed some light, this is a Google Custom Search ( http://www.google.com/coop/cse/ ) tool someone's set up. As previously stated it's fairly redundant in the presence of TPB and other trackers as it doesn't actually track torrents.

The IE6 hysteria keeps coming around but it won't change. About now it appears to me that the only users of IE6 arelarge corporations that can't/won't upgrade (feasibility/old internal intranet apps) or those that wouldn't know how to. In t

Interesting that the old using-double-quotes-is-slower thing is actually disproven. Actually it's slightly confusing as it should be slower - double-quoted strings are parsed to find inline variables - yet single-quoted strings are a tiny

I think I see the unique factor here: clicking images and then the search engine logo allows you to use alternate sources. While this is a nice idea (although Web should have at least Google) I kind of feel combining many search engines, st

Wow, we've finally discovered the missing link: 1. Build small luck-based script. 2. Add promotional spot on homepage. 3. Provide pay-to-win advantages. 4. Profit!

I can agree with that, I wouldn't use a code-based markup generator simply because I couldn't see how you'd add design-based containers and things in there. Seems to eb good at producing semantic content markup, but not for full pages.

Vim! Although I must admit you've got a point there, it's a bit like Atwood's indentation piece yesterday, why bother fussing over that when your editor can sort it for you?

Not that a big button isn't always out of place. I do think that the elegant details applied to a relatively simple design can help bring the quality of the design up. Simple touches help make a simple design a pleasure to use.

A much needed expansion of Ubiquity. It never made sense to have a separate menu (and was the reason I didn't miss it while in my Chrome period). Adding functionality to the awesome bar will make things much more, uh, awesome.
