Fun fact: CSIRAC, Australia's first digital computer, used mercury delay line memory. It is on display at Scienceworks, Spotswood, Melbourne. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CSIRAC

Lots of worthwhile observations in the article, but I think the framing is a bit off. It sounds transactional and by the numbers. I think it's fairly well understood that vocal users aren't necessarily representative. The bulk of

I guess the downvotes signal disagreement, but I value the conversation in spite of disagreeing with you. I'm not sure idempotence is the only concept in play. If the operation is idempotent, well, clicking twice doesn't do anythi

EDIT: I see that libbf implements faithful rounding of operations. Nice. TIL. See also: Jean-Michel Muller's books: "Handbook of Floating Point Arithmetic," and "Elementary Functions." https://www.sollya.

I agree that it depends on whether you want humans to interact/interpret the software at all, but I'd push back on "mostly human preferences." Do you think that how something feels is mostly a matter of human preference?

Curious that they are pitching Lean 4 for formal verification. I thought that this was more the domain of Isabelle/HOL and TLA+. At least I would have expected a model trained at using all three. Maybe also Isabell/Isar, which see

Agree that the code examples look like communicating sequential processes (CSP) and/or async/await-style concurrency (i.e. co-routines in C++). To me this is not "Actors" at all. Actors don't "wait", they

I'm not familiar with parser combinators. The parser generators that I'm familiar with (YACC, ANTLR3,5) parse a stream of lexemes/tokens, not characters. Is there a reason why combinators don't operate on lexemes?

Now all it needs is a parser in 'examples/' that parses EBNF grammars and emits a parser in terms of these combinators.

I'll try to answer as accurately as I can. The narrative that I read into the media that I consume is that (1) the US has ineffective gun control laws, and (2) that there is widespread availability of a variety of guns and ammunition t

Doing things via the CLI and editing config files doesn't automatically give you reproducability or audit trail. Last time I check etckeeper doesn't work with proxmox either (due to the proxmox FUSE mount in /etc).
