Great analogy. Expensive toys that look impressive but you'll spend 90% of your time fiddling instead of getting anything useful done with it.

I'm just pointing out different options that exist. Virtual Desktop is WiFi only but ALVR can do either. If you're not capped by bandwidth because you can hardware encode into H265 or AV1, it shouldn't make a difference (besi

Plenty of rage bait exists in hobbies too. There’s an entire subreddit for that. HN isn’t immune to that too obviously.

Do you think it's good enough for "business"? I pay too much for screenconnect and absolutely hate it, but it does usually just work.

If you got remoteFX on RDP working, would the difference be that large for gaming? One feature I really want is clipboard sharing that works as well as it does on RDP/Parsec.

>One reason iMessage is less of a total cesspit than SMS is that the ecosystem is closed Would like to add my personal experience: I get way more spam iMessages coming from random Apple IDs than I do spam SMSes.

I think I understand you. That functionality doesn't exist in ESP32 Arduino tool chain without more work/more code. Their hobby level perspective is valuable to other hobby level engineers who want a solution.

Personally, I don't use multiple APs with overlapping SSIDs, but if I did than I can see how it would be easier to deal with the logic from the AP management side rather than the client. It's also nice to not have to re-connect Io

Who wants to deal with writing that logic for a hobby project? That doesn't sound fun at all. Sounds like a "good enough" shitty solution to me, which is kind of the whole point of DIY.

Regardless of that, I’m always happy to see people try and free themselves from the increasingly centralized nature of the web. I might not be brave enough to stop using CF, but people who do benefit everyone.

Wow, that's pretty extreme. Maybe we can land somewhere in the middle here? If you're trying to do an ISP on a budget, IPv4 makes things harder.

When I meet people in VR who are ESL, I can tell based on their accent and mannerisms that they learned English by playing video games with westerners or watched a lot of YouTube. Do we really want to dilute the uniqueness of language by ma

You're over-analyzing it. TF2 is 17 years old, and basically has a skeleton crew keeping it running. They simply decided it's not worth the effort. I'm mad about it too, but hard to blame them.
