Sorry to vent on you, specifically, but many people seem to have missed the point where I said I wanted them. I just don't want to be forced into a jail cell 100% of the time. I want an escape hatch to do the needful once in a while t

It is, you're right. But finding out something about the chemical makeup of an extrasolar planet seems much more interesting to me, especially if we find a "goldilocks zone" planet, regardless of whether or not there is ev

I guess as long as a language is used in at least 11% of projects, it can avoid being "one-nine" dead :-)

Languages never die. But companies stop making new projects with them - for some number of 9s percent of companies. E.g. - FOOGOLTRAN is a five-nine dead language, if 99.999% of new projects don't use it.

I am glad to see that this is optional. We need languages that mix compile/parse time (static) and run time (dynamic) types, to mix what fits best to each situation. Of course type checking can catch some problems. The more extremi

I don't understand the downvotes on you. At the end of the day, dear Google is (now) still just a marketing company, however well they may treat the intellect they are hoarding. Yes, I'm ignoring that Google was founded on some re

Amen. If you are really good at CSS, you might play to that strength. Or, you might play to different strengths. There's probably more than one way to do it in many cases that doesn't hurt the project.

I like the idea of "patch golf". If only people would at least do a diff before they commit to spot gratuitous reformatting or accidental changes :-(

What back end code have you integrated this with? Have you tried "flocking"? http://flockingjs.org/ (I have not, I'm just wondering about somebody else's experience with this sort of thing in JS) I

I was thinking that having a few feet of gravel between you and radiation would be useful for a base, as well as the ease of coming and going from a smaller body. I suppose it would be helpful to build some kind of centrifuge in any base to

Somehow, this sound more interesting than sending Buzz Lightyear to Mars. OK, a Mars mission would be pretty cool, but this would be some serious science. Can you image any planets in the system of the 3 closest stars? What are their spec
