Intuitively, I would have preferred they used a bigger pointer type (96 bits or 128 bits) instead of using unused part of the current pointers that will shrink when will need a bigger address space.

I'm may be mistaken, but I interpret jamescostian's comment as "every language has some problems, let's stop this sort of discussion". May you intended to detach the parent comment ?

If the effect applies to programming languages, it could explain why some people love lisp so much.

People like to use percentage for everything. That doesn't mean that everything is exponential.

It could be a small part of those people who are doing this in order to have a bigger bonus. Bad incentive structures that cause bad behaviours is not an unknown phenomenon.

The previous submission of the link to fossil-scm.org ( https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=12673229 ) has some interesting comments from the creator.

The "nothrow" is not part of the function signature, probably in order not to break retro-compatibility. Without this, "nothrow" cannot be enforced reliably at compile time. And I think they don't want to add a new

Does anyone know if it would be possible/useful to create some artificial "cool zone" to help the coral to survive in some place in order to ease recolonization after such events ?

Nice but the three top gauges are moving suspiciously fast. Do they add a little random the the real number to give a sort of error margin visualisation ?

I have an other interpretation : we just don't need a lot of purely original content. Something slightly different is enough in order not to be boring. Even exactly the same thing is not boring, a lot of people watch films/series

I would like to have some basic issue tracking in git like in fossil (www.fossil-scm.org if you don't know, by the creator of sqlite). It's a shame that git has eclipsed all other options.

How can you possibly see that? Short answer : I'm writing a drawing software and I've become pixel sensitive. Technical answer : you are creating 1 pixel wide horizontal/vertical line with integer coordinates. Sadly

Yes, 2d shapes. I'm writing vector drawing software and I use agg as backend (which use scanlines). In the long term it could be a good think to use or implement a more modern back-end.
