The problem is if it becomes socially normalized. If you're using a concealed camera and someone notices, you're a creep/asshole.

It's also possible it's only a compelling story, and not based on any real events.

Why is this AI-generated comment still at the top of the thread, after 3 hours? Is it finally time to give up on HN?

I get cookie popup, fandom survey popup, google login popup, using UBlock Origin on Firefox.

I get 2 popups even with a content blocker, it's pretty bad.

That's a lot of words without actually defining the term, although idle_zealot's suggestion of "change" seems to make grammatical sense as a replacement here.

What is "drift"? It seems to be one of those words that LLMs love to say but it doesn't really mean anything ("gap" is another one).

Another big one for me is that they dropped the cache TTLs. It is normal for me to come back to a session an hour later, but someone "autopilot"-ing won't have such gaps.

I also use it this way and I'm overall pretty happy with it, but it feels like they really want us to use it in "autopilot" mode. It's like they have two conflicting priorities of "make people use more tokens so w

I think it's a relevant critique for something that goes on your wrist, especially when products like PineTime exist in the same market segment with aesthetics much closer to an apple watch (an aesthetic I'm not fond of either, bu

I believe you are mistaken. If you are referring to the comment from ArielTM, that's an LLM bot regurgitating your readme.

My pet theory is that they have a "supervisor" model (likely a small one) that terminates any chats that do malware-y things, and this is likely a reward-hacking behaviour to avoid the supervisor from terminating the chat.

Everything else aside, their brief "experiment" with removing CC support from the Pro plan got me seriously considering other options. I've been wary of vendor lock-in the whole time, but it was a useful reminder. (opencode+o

It's cool that the firmware is hackable but I think "DIY" is an imprecise way to describe that.

Couldn't you use inotify (and/or some cross-platform wrapper) to watch for WAL changes without polling?

That specific trick yes, but the general concept still applies.

The fact that LLMs are "smarter" is also their weakness. An oldschool classifier is far from foolproof, but you won't get past it by telling it about your grandma's bedtime story routine.

How well does the haptic trackpad stack up against the ones found in macbooks?

I do.

Depending on how good that haptic trackpad is, this could be a real Macbook Pro competitor. 32GB of RAM on my M1 Pro is starting to feel a bit cramped.

Native android apps can talk to regular USB devices, if granted the necessary permissions. But it's exposed through a Java api (and Kotlin I suppose, these days), which is fine, but it means you need to write your client logic twice. I
