Instead of a direct clone you should try to find your own "twist" on the idea. That way you can still get buzz and be seen as a competitor and not just a knock-off. Finding a good twist is the hard part though. Also, remember that

I think there is a disconnect between your values and many on HN when it comes to the right of free speech. You see "harm from bad speech" as a major problem in society so you naturally seek to correct it with the strongest tools

And then with 10-15k for overpriced student housing since most colleges make mandatory for Freshmen and sometimes even Sophomores. Then you might have to pay 1k a year to pay for a parking spot. 2-5k for cafeteria access. Add it all up and

I hadn't thought about the lowered prices from non-peak times. Thats a good point. It just seems like the people who would want to pay for a subscription to the movies are inherently people who go multiple times a month. Even a $6 mati

This model introduces disincentives to building value since they don't actually want their subscribers USING the service. They just want them paying for it and forgetting about it like a gym membership. Also at $10 a month wouldn'

I think this is an amazing idea! I played with Basic and Visual Basic when I was younger and it taught me all about logic loops, basic data structures, etc. Putting that type of playground on the web sounds interesting. Have you started yet

My friends and I worked on this problem for a hackathon and even managed to get 3 letters that could be recognized! The judges were unimpressed and the win went to a group that copied a project off of instructables.com :)
