The only TRUELY passive income I have is a YouTube video, unedited, published in 2012 that generates me $500-$1,500 a year. I do absolutely nothing to the video to promote it. YouTube seems to recommend it every fall and it has been a nice

Time off. I worked for over a decade in the automotive industry (sales, service, mechanic, etc) and most of those jobs offered 2 holidays and 1 week of vacation. My current employer gives me 17 hoildays and 25 paid vacation days. Pretty muc

Whatever the default font is for my editor. I've never found font to be a barrier for me. I'm currently using Atom, so I guess Menlo or Consolas.

A simple reporting tool for tracking and reporting project/task activity. It's cool because work requires me to submit an activity report each week and I wasn't about their terribly inefficient form, so I built a web-service

I've been tapering off of my antidepressant for 3 weeks now after 4 years. The sudden flood of emotions has been weird, but familiar. I can't imagine going decades without.

Many cars on the road today have no mechanical linkage between the steering wheel and the tires. This is nothing new.

Damn, I spent all night last night trying to get jspdf to work for me and gave up. Breezy looks like exactly what I needed! Serendipity.

I joined the Marine Corps. That was ~20 years ago now and it helped me in immeasurable ways. I was a pretty crappy teen - suicidal, drugs, problems with authority - and decided I wanted to fix that. The Corps taught me to be confident and t

The content - right now - is structured and evergreen. If you suddenly attract a few thousand users, do you think you can maintain that? Do you expect to be able to curate all the posts? There doesn't seem to be any requirement for me

Yes? Very few posts actually contain more information than the little blurb... which makes it feel more like a curated Twitter hashtag than an actual blog, but that's not on you. That will come from people using it. The similarity betw

I can click on other people's bios to open the edit dialog. I shouldn't be able to do that, even if my edit does nothing. :-)

Also, the back button (top left) has some weird behavior. After adding a list and adding some things to the list, I tried to use the back arrow to go to the huggylist home and it instead took me back to the new list form.

This is pretty neat. Thanks for sharing. There's a few inconsistencies with your layout. On desktop, it (mostly) forces phone view, but when I went to add my list, for instance, the submit button stretched my entire window.

I've been working on a simple Activity Reporting tool for a few months now and I could use... all sorts of help. Firstly, I've only been a "professional" developer for a few years. I've been a hacker most of my life

My bed. I'm mostly a hermit when left to my own devices and I have absolutely no problem being productive at home... so, in my bed with my laptop and some background noise and I'm all set.

Just curious why you would choose to write your own route handler. I use them (via Laravel) on work projects and I hate them. I hate that I have to look at a routes file or controller to find out what is pointed where in my file. I have all

Usually self-preservation. Often, the software projects I work on are things that simplify my life and it just so happens that other people want to use them too. I enjoy eating, having a home, feeding my children, and playing games. So, I d

I recently adopted a codebase that (of course) was a mess... I can confidently make that statement as the end users were extremely frustrated with the lack of usability. The front end was just as bad as the back end. So, I spent 2 months re

I don't know yet. For me "side project" means significantly less planning. My method is to listen to people around me, "I wish I had a tool that could do x." If it's simple enough, I don't bother Googling
