It is hard to overstate the impact of social media here. There are acts making a go of it which were unthinkable back in the day. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mac_Sabbath This is far from the weirdest band these da

I also want to overthrow Tom Nook. He traps you (and one presumes) all of the rest of the villagers in a vicious cycle of debt, and can only be satiated by millions of bells.

Did women have to wear ties too? Were garish father's day ties acceptable? Was wearing a tie as a rambo style headband a firable offense at office parties? I have many questions.

This is probably because in the absence of a space program, North Korea uses Google maps for surveilling it's rivals. (I kid, I kid. I am sure they have access to Chinese spy satellite data)

I mostly watch on desktop. Their current anti-adblock strategy does get past what I am using - but I have a different clever workaround. When the ad starts, just refresh the page. It will act as though it's already played the ads, ev

That book is brutally dense reading. It almost needs a translation for normal folks. It is absolutely no wonder the ideas have not caught on more.

I'm not sure we should take the story at face value. Someone in the UK calling their boss a dickhead, instead of a tosser, pillock, bellend, prat, knob or wanker? Unlikely.

In a few years when all these rack servers are outdated for AI workloads, there will be a glut in the market of cheap only-slightly-dated servers. My JellyFin setup in 5 years is going to be fucking awesome.

I appreciate the sentiment, and absolutely think it should be kept in mind more. But of course, it runs afoul of reality a lot of the time. I recently got annoyed that the Windows Task scheduler just sometimes... Doesn't fucking work.

Modern Android has this too. I'm not sure what all distros it's in, since my Pixel 8 Pro doesn't have it, but LineageOS does and so does my cheap ass Motorola G 5G.

I'm not a gearhead, but a car admirer. Bought my first fun car recently (a 2001 MR2 Spyder - probably my last fun car). I think we're a long way off self-driving cars in earnest, but we're in the shorter term leaving behind

Astute readers of maps will recognize that The Upper Peninsula of Michigan gets in the way of Canada and Lake Michigan. QED: It's a fine argument among people who have looked at the map.

I see two things which may have an impact: 1. Conferences require travel budget, which in tech companies (from what I hear) is being repurposed to build out AI capacity. Really, everything is being squeezed like this it seems. 2. A lot of
