Idk, have you seen the interfaces with default implementations in latest C#? Also duck typing? Both are mistakes IMO. First missteps I feel like I've seen C# make.

Web dev is a fairly broad term. If you only know Angular/CSS/Typescript, you're kinda out of luck unless you start brushing up on your Node chops. If you're writing web APIs, it's a much smaller jump. Embedded syste

This is such a click bait headline I don't even want to comment. Web Development is boring if you think it's boring. A lot of people don't. If you do think it's boring, there are a lot of industries that need programmers

It's not the logic that's the problem as much as the fact that the systems are meant to work with clean data, and the fact that data could not just be missing, but straight up incorrect was never considered as a valid possibility.

I agree, but practically a lot of bad software practices happen when middle management don't fully communicate the tradeoffs that are made when designing and building software. I find it hard to believe that this was a problem that no

This is super interesting stuff, simply because of the thought process. Every once and a while you run into those tech problems that really push your limits and it's cool to see how they worked through it.

It's not the heat, it's the increased use. when you're hardwired, you get enough power that your phone just bypasses the battery. If you use a charging mat, you still 'run' from battery. This means increased cycles

I think the point OP is making is that there is plenty of bad software out there that (as a result of a combination of incompetence, scope creep, bad decisions, and short timelines) just isn't resilient, testable, and single use anymor

The Trinity study said a conservative number was 4%. Since then a lot of people said "Well, I don't want a conservative number, I want a number that has no chance of failure", so went to 3.5% or 3%. Practically I don't t

I think the counterpoint to this would be Google Search. The core product is incredibly simple from a frontend perspective, but the backend is world-class engineering. I think making information usable is hard. This means that the burden of

The problem with #2 is that if a company spends $30k of time and effort to get an employee trained up, the poaching company can offer a raise of 10k and still be in the black 3 years later. If the original company decided to match that offe
