That would only solve one of the problems. Some of the users here are skilled enough that the average user doesn't know enough to keep up a disagreement. It's easier if the user names stay. For instance, the ggp is a security professional

I did too, and tried to get a discussion going again nine ours later, believing you had failed because of the time at posting, but no one upvoted mine either. It makes me think: worse than the constant discussion of the shape of HN is too

Which memes do you recognize as appearing on HN? The only one I can think of is Erlang references. I like the idea of labeling poor arguments against pg's disagreement hierarchy would make a useful meme, though I'm probably wrong and can't

Great, thank you for that link. I look forward to listening to him during breakfast tomorrow. I agree that concierge practices sound like a better approach, at least as a primary source for health care. It would be the same as insurance f

Walmart has a deal with RediClinic. The Walmart RediClinics are apparently using eClinicalWorks, the rest might be Athena Health. I expect these clinics use technology as much as possible. I don't think they can lower cost much more by us

His comments read as very general to me, but the intro commenting on the trigger for his thoughts was good and it made a strong closing. His thoughts felt like they had been abstracted from any one specific case. From you're perspective, m

Lets try to rewrite the gp's post as DH5. Also, someone fix the parents score. Ad-hominem posts should be discouraged. The author thinks start-ups should change the world. She's mistaken. Start-ups are businesses, they're meant to suppo

You're probably right, but I don't want anyone to think that speech recognition isn't good now, it just isn't good generally. There are plenty of doctors who expect programs like dragon to replace expensive transcriptionists.

Your intro is really too harsh, and as rw pointed out (just) a rhetorical trick. Aaron didn't even submit the article.

I'll just address this bit since it seems fundamental: So how do we decide what good things are? Doesn’t everyone have their own idea of what’s good? Instead of trying to promote one particular person’s notion of what’s good, it seems like

These festivals shouldn't be run by media business people, they should be run by musician business people. If there are too many people taking cuts then things will cost too much.

I tried it recently and [it looks like you need an add on.] But I didn't like that it didn't recognize the group by artist flag iTunes uses. And I couldn't set up album-by-artist. And it seemed to use more ram. But, it looks a lot nicer

I'm not sure this belongs here, but I found a better link with a slide show while looking for the fanged frog. The YouTube blurb has a little info on it too. http://www.backpacker.com/researchers_new_species_papua_new_...

Guh, I was trying to point out you're probably the Sama and maybe get some info on the actual deal. Not get you down-voted. Your comment was perfectly acceptable considering your connection to Loopt.

Oh, I see your point now. I hadn't viewed that slide show yet and thought it was more like the paper cutting pitch. I think it could work, but more likely licensed and sold to a store like Claire's.

Ever heard of candy? My cousin has a big zip lock completely filled with brightly colored beads. She and my brother would sit and make herself, him, or their friends bracelets. This can be time consuming, but she clearly enjoyed it. My p

The only problem with this is that some say no to everything. Sivers isn't addressing them at all, but we wouldn't want to go evangelize this point of view to everyone. Some people need to say yes a lot more. Also, there are categories o

Thanks guys. I'm sorry I didn't define cheap. I didn't realize how relative 'cheap' is. I think ~$10/mo is cheap, this site won't directly make any money. Slicehost and Linode look great, though I don't know my stuff.
