This is cool. My dad threw away our TRS-80 when I was in high school, and I miss it. It was the one with the integrated monitor, I don't remember what model it was. My first computer.

I have HyperX Cloud headphones, they're a gaming headset. The mic has nice quality sound, I use it a lot for conferencing. The sound is balanced (a lot of gaming headsets are bass heavy, these are not) and most importantly, they'r

Isn't the purpose of anonymity in this situation to ensure that the best candidates get hired? Wouldn't diversity be the natural result, assuming that diverse types of candidates are qualified? I'm not advocating for this as

I have three kids. When one kid gets sick, the others get sick too, but not at the same time. It's usually a week later for one, and a week after that for the other. Now we're talking about sick time spread across three weeks. It&

Apparently lots of downvotes here but most companies will screw you over as soon as it's convenient for them to do so.

I've thought of this but it usually takes some time to overwrite a lot of data. I'm not savvy enough to know if there's a way to nuke the data that quickly, other than non-software methods. A friend of mine used to keep a mas

I do a little bit of everything, front-end, back-end, databases etc., and man, the front-end feels like such a janky disaster to me. I really miss the simplicity of the "old" internet that I had growing up (I'm in my 30'

Flask is awesome, the code is very readable and transparent. I'm not a fan of Rails because of all the "magical" things that happen. Of course, smarter people than I use Rails and have great results, but I'll stick with

I'm learning Lisp right now so I'll definitely try this out when I get home. It's nice to go and read other's Lisp projects. I love the brevity of this code! Awesome work. Are you on Lainchan?

I have a six year old who is interested in programming, so we learn together. We've been making projects in Scratch, scripting Minecraft with Python, and I'm getting into some Java so we can work on some Minecraft mods. I'm g

I agree with you. I can't comprehend that the incentive to behave this way is great enough compared to the destruction it causes. It's a guarantee that I'm missing a piece of the equation.

This is a cool idea, but isn't it a chicken or egg scenario? I need lots of disposable income to buy unique, handmade things. If not enough people have money to buy these things, then the market won't be able to support many artis

One reason may be that the tech industry exists mainly in metro areas and is city-focused. These people live in the city and deal with city problems on a daily basis. Also, farming is just not sexy.

I think this was a great post, and it touches on a lot of things that I think about daily. I live in a rural area, with farms all around. Every day a new field goes up for sale, and a new subdivision of mcmansions is built where crops were

That depends. In a lot of places, if you expose any wiring (aka, rip out drywall) you need to get a building permit and inspection for the work you're doing.

Too much room in the toe box can be a problem too, your feet slide around and your toes slam the front of your boots repeatedly. This is actually worse (to me) than having shoes that are too tight.
