Looks really interesting (and +1 for Haskell). I've used for this purpose Deplate written in Ruby, which has a rich feature set, but is not quite mature, so sometimes you have to go to the source code.

Or maybe they don't want to risk a program that isn't 100% Windows compatible, because lots of their potential customers use Windows.

I wrote a website on Google App Engine using Clojure. I used compojure and some Java library for OpenID. My database was (naturally) Google Datastore for which I had a custom wrapper based on http://github.com/duelinmarkers/appengine-clj/t

DirectDraw/Direct2D has been deprecated long time ago in favor of Direct3D. So basically you are in the same position as with OpenGL.

So they are planning to supply software for screens displayed in hollywood movies? Like you know, images flying across the screen, zooming in and out and so on? :)

Actually games are at least as useful as movies. And when a talented guy wants to be a director or actor, nobody tells him that it's nonsense and he should do something useful instead. So this was not fair from the teacher.

* They do allow for custom HTML to be added into parts of the site* But I suppose adding your own ads will be supported when it's out of beta? Otherwise paying the price and having no way to generate revenue seems a little useless...

This is probably not going to be an introduction to game programming, I thinks it's more targeted at those who have already started. But I think there are other resources for people like you. There are questions about it on stackoverflow, f

In my case, I like the UI changes in XP and Vista (yay for transparency :) and setting it back to Win98-style seems silly to me. But I think I agree with this optimization for a single window, because I usually have many windows open at a t

To compile from Vim, use vcbuild (for C++) or msbuild (.NET) as your makeprg (you will need to add them to your path first. For vcbuild you can do it by using "%VS90COMNTOOLS%\vsvars32.bat"). Then set errorformat and your ready to go :)

Some compatibility problems don't regard HTML, so this compatibility mode is irrelevant - for instance in COM apps using the IE browser control, upgrades to IE7/8 are known to cause problems.

I think that file (not only mp3s) sharing is the ultimate goal of the internet. The current state when we have big servers to which clients connect is just a coincidence and is temporary. The future is fully distributed :)

Actually this book is not anti-singularity. It defends the idea that intelligence and self-consciousness can be attained by a machine, but says that we're still quite far from it (more than 1993+30 as the paper predicts).
