Electric airplanes already exist. Obviously they're not replacing long haul airliners this year... but not every plane is meant for that sort of use.

I'm not 100% informed on the details but when I moved to Austria, I joined the Alpenverein. I understand that part of the yearly membership dues go for providing some sort of rescue insurance. Seems like a good arrangement to me.

There was a case centered around the fact that the defendant maintained a TOR router and occasional exit point in the city I live in a few years ago. I didn't follow it obsessively but general gist I walked away with was that the autho

I guess my point is that even after using such tools for years I don't find myself remembering many of the heavily overloaded keystroke combos. Of course it doesn't help that I use a Linux box for development and Mac OS for email

Yeah, it's not really an attractive car is it! Though having sat in one briefly I have to say that, given the external footprint, the interior is enormous and those little suicide doors make it feel even bigger.

Building a custom keyboard is pretty high on my list of hobbyist projects that I'd like to do someday. However, I guess I must be pretty crazy because if I was to go through all the effort of building my own keyboard, I'd want a k

I'm sorta within the target audience of the i3. I live in a mostly walkable mid-sized European city with a comparatively well implemented public transportation system. Nonetheless, and particularly in the colder months, I would like

So the key quality here is high-altitude performance? Like higher than the service ceilings of current civilian planes or military transports?

It's a shame that Notch dropped the 0x10c project. The concept seemed to me like a great way to get kids more interested in actual computer engineering (as opposed to just using computer applications).

This makes me wonder how likely users of SDRs are to run afoul of local radio frequency interference laws. For example I'm suspect that running an unlicensed 4G/LTE base station out in the wild is legal (no matter what the intenti

It strikes me that with Microsoft working with Canonical to bring an Ubuntu like command line to Windows that it probably includes something like apt. This doesn't completely address your larger point but it probably would make the pr

Yeah. Clearly it's not that the mass surveillance in place in the nations with advanced economies doesn't actually help prevent terrorist attacks. It's that there isn't enough mass surveillance.

I'd be a lot more excited about this if they were more accessible. I can barely justify an upgrade to whitebox Intel Xeon servers and there's just no way I could rationalize the prices that IBM demands.
