Isn't "taking will" essentially about changing habits? Personally, I find that habit and habituation is all that takes to slip back into weekend binging (etc.). Once I break the habit it's pretty easy to stay out of it[0

It's a bit weird that Python -- which in some ways was a trailblazer in popularizing somewhat unconventional syntax choices (indent matters!) -- has become so stuck in its ways that if-elif seems like a reasonable choice of syntax for

This is an excellent point. When working with the ZoL tools I really get the impression that they want to make the easy and safe(!) things easy, and the dangerous things near-impossible. I don't have that much experience with ZFS

I think that's a given. Generated code isn't even... generated by including a header. (I'm assuming you're thinking of templates.) You need use site "caching" to be able to reuse template parsing beyond the par

The problem with headers (in C++) isn't #include. It's the bleed-through of macros (and pragmas, I guess) from headers into subsequent headers. Without that, precompiled headers would be an obvious win always and every time. Macro

You may be thinking of Don't Talk to the Police[1]? I'm not sure if the speaker explicitly says this or just quotes someone who did, but let's just say that this is a recurring theme in the talk... [1] https://www.
