It's a surprisingly comforting response. This ends with decentralization. Let's force all platforms to ban anything even mildly offensive.

Trans women can do whatever they want, all I meant is that if people are only changing their gender on paper to have more opportunities, that's considered dishonest and unacceptable... At least, I thought that's how it worked.

That's not exactly right. As I understand it, you sort of get to choose your gender, but society has to accept your choice. If I declare myself a woman but make no attempt to "live as a woman" as society sees it, I'll ap

I think the optimal situation if you're applying to a program like this is to be a self-starter that's capable and interested in programming already, doing the same kind of self-learning that I did online without anyone asking my

I've observed the same thing. Personally, I've been pressured to hire less qualified women candidates to make the team more diverse. I've never been pressured not to hire a woman because she's a woman.

Good. Ban them all. Force everyone with an unpopular opinion off the major platforms. While we're at it, let's ban political debate and fake news. Ban NPR and ban Breitbart. Ban religious debate too. If it offends someone, ge

Temporarily embarrassed millionaire American here. I can't make universal health care and UBI happen. The next best thing is to acquire wealth so I can some day avoid the drudgery of working life. Maybe.

I think I agree with you, but how are you supposed to assess designers to choose the right person? The main difference I've found between bad/good designers is flexibility and willingness to ask for help. There's typically a

Same. I don't want to birth a human into a life of slavery. If I secure enough wealth that I don't have to work, and my children wouldn't have to work, only then would I have kids.

I agree. I've been using airvpn with pfsense for a while now. The connection is reliable, I can have multiple connections to multiple regions, and it's simple to route an entire vlan out of a particular VPN.

I just don't understand this at all. If you can earn a million a year, do it for 3-5 years, never have to work again, and pursue your passions in life. I think the problem for most workers is the lifetime of toil, not the meaninglessn

I think code should be treated as a craft. If you enjoy it, you'll do it anyway, even if you stop doing it for a job. If you're trying to pick a career path, you need to ask yourself why you work at all. Are you trying to be som

Why doesn't everyone just write what they're up to today in a chat channel and people can reply if they want? It seems kind of silly to me to have everyone dial in or stand around in a circle, to each have one person speak. I
