Assuming func() doesn’t have side effects, sure. But if the point was to gate func() to only run before deadline this doesn’t really help.

Better cars and bus lanes aside, I've never seen an Uber driver do anything besides follow whatever route Google Maps, Waze, or Apple Maps suggested. Most of the drivers don't even really know the streets of the city they are driv

IMO your view of stress at FAANG vs elsewhere is off. Some of the least stressed engineers I know work for the big names. I'm sure there are stressed engineers there as well, but I'd be surprised if it's actually a higher %.

I don't know much about Dwarf Fortress, but why is that a bug? It sounds like it follows reasonably well from the behavior in the game.

"quite powerful tools... such as... defining the inflation metric" you're not wrong, but I definitely had a good laugh at this. Pretty easy to win the game when you can change the rules whenever you please.

If you use your home kitchen commercially, you'll still need to get health inspections, etc. Even camp kitchens at Burning Man ( https://burningman.org/event/preparation/health-safety/permi... ) get visits

I worked for a company that ordered Sprig everyday for lunch for a few months. It was pretty good at first, but at the time they only had something like 5-10 meals, and pretty much everyone grew tired of it within a couple months. I realize

Not the OP, but I think his point was people aren't ending their lease and moving home til covid is over, because if they did, they wouldn't be able to get that low of rent again.

There is definitely some truth in what you’re saying —- especially at startups without a strongly developed internal Scala culture. I think it’s less of an issue at large companies like Twitter, Asana, Databricks, etc, which overall probabl

Neither is cats in Scala. Most Scala programmers are probably just maintaining Play apps or using Apache Spark, with no pure FP in sight. The pure FP contingent is just very active and vocal online.

Are you talking about using Target disk mode to boot your imac off the drive in a mac mini or MBP? because that will still use your imac's processor & ram, etc.

I don't have the answer to why they stopped supporting this, but I don't think it's because the resolution is too high for a single Thunderbolt connection. I have an LG 5k that works over a single thunderbolt3 connection -- a

I'd say it's because it's just a feature to Apple that incentivizes owning Macs and iPhones. For Dropbox it's their whole business -- they can't afford to subsidize the cost.
