Sometimes, the only thing that gets me through a week of stressful, complicated, brainy crap, is washing the dishes, washing, folding and putting away clothes. I learned a long time ago that, for me, this is life. The rest is just shots acr

A friend of mine studied healthcare management for his thesis. One of the hidden costs in US Healthcare is the waste and duplication that comes from competition. His example was a town with enough population to support a single CT machine.

Talk about a coincidence. I just interviewed (for an article) someone today who happened to mention out of the blue that he's mentioned in the "Art of Computer Programming". He asked me if I "had heard of Donald Knuth.&q

A cheap answer would be for Youtube to present a last edited date for any video in an easy to check place. Since current copyright makes it difficult to make a copy of the video and link to the copy, we've fallen into the bad habit of

Really appreciated your service at my last company, and I recognize some of how hard what you do really is. In my case you're over 400 miles off. That's not a complaint; I'm amazed at how much you manage to get right.

Just want to point out how appropriate this reply was on many levels. The core article was about privacy and using w3m overcomes most intrusions. The presentation on the site is apparently awful, but w3m removes all that and distills the pa

I believe it was an HN thread years ago where I first discovered Dotsies. I spent a very satisfying afternoon learning to read it and write it. I then labelled all sorts of cables and patch boards and such with it around my cubicle for fun.
