   The spec isn't a disaster. Vendors implementing is. The main problem is that OEMs don't give a sh*t about the spec and cutting corners whenever they can.

    Amazon caused the problem by mixing inventory. You are a legit seller who sells product A and there is another seller who sells a counterfeit product A. Even if a customer buys from you it can receive a counterfeit product.

    That's not true. The spec allows it but currently, there's no chip that supports it.

    But you already can do that. You can register multiple U2F keys and give it to a family member or put it in a safe. You can do the same with recovery keys.

    Gov ID would only work if you show it in person. A lot of people have a photocopy of ID. IP address is easy to fake. The main problem is with targeted attacks. That's why SMS not secure

    But that fine because the trusted device is the second factor (what you have). You can have multiple second factors with Github. I currently have two Yubikeys and one authenticator app enabled. If I lose one I can still log in with another.

    There are still devices currently that use floppy disks. The only accessory I have that uses hardwired USB-A is my Logitech C920 webcam. All other stuff has a detachable cable. I will just change the USB-A to (Micro)USB-B cable to USB-C to

    I'm the opposite. All of my stuff uses USB-C except my MBP. It seems finally I can upgrade that as well. I hate bringing my MBP charge whenever I travel.

    I agree with you. I have the same feeling with Linux. I'm on Mac and don't have any real upside changing to Linux.

    All the new products use barrel jack for power which is a step backward form USB-C or even from USB MiniB (Home Mini).
