I'm not sure of the current state of industry in that area. I know minifab make a few things in that area, but the specifics escape me now, it's been a while since I saw them. I'm not aware of any lab on a chip devices that w

I'm thoroughly irked by blog posts like this. Fluidics and microfluidics are still an area of active research. Useless pondering that because of parallelism, fluidic based computers could be viable in practical application. The inferen

I was really impressed when I got to check these out in person. My main concern though is noise and 'frame rate'. It wasn't loud for a machine shop, but was loud for an office. Id love to know a way to increase the frame rate

I've helped a roo out of a tangle with a wire fence before. It was cut up fairly bad, clearly in pain, but clearly understood I was there to help. It held still when I needed it to, much like I would if a buddy were helping me out of t

Email sent. Knives have been a hobby for a long time. Got to spend some time, when I've visited the US, in workshops of Chad Nichols damascus, Vegas forge, Tom Krein and Brian Fellhoelter. Great fun.

Some of the most simple things are ready to become products, but they're sitting on a shelf. We've had widespre commercial interest, but it seems the boss isn't interested in small things. The more complex and involved ideas

I work for a winner of a similar type of award. The tech quite predictably went nowhere. There was an initial surge of interest and funding, all of which was squandered. Primary issues ignored while making more science fair demonstrations

I've used a few FBGs from them. They were so good we had to introduce a lot of loss to avoid saturation.

I do a lot of driving in areas with poor to no mobile phone reception. Driving back from Wilpena Pound recently, google play music stopped working, no voice control for the drive home. Okay, can deal with that. However, I'm still yet

I've been having significant trouble sleeping the past few months. Even on calm-minded days, the second my head hits the pillow the stresses come back, I get worked up, and can't sleep. Rewatching his videos is one of the few thin

Thank you, champion, but no. I've got people to talk with, and I am using that. Not everybody does though, and it disappoints me to see so many people missing that point.

No, I'm not, but I'm working on it and I will be. It's been interesting today, seeing people at work walking around together, using work-sponsored coffee vouchers specifically to have a coffee with a colleague today, my face

I don't have in depth knowledge about the app. It saves contact based on Bluetooth. At this stage I don't have much more info than what's in the main link or other recent news articles.

I'm not 100% up to speed on this as, for the most part, it doesn't impact me as lower-tier research staff. Management is often pushing us for more papers in higher-ranked journals as that seems to be the biggest factor. Student qu

In Australia, the rankings often seem to be based on outcomes unrelated to undergraduate studies (citation needed). I've found that makes for a situation where there is very little need to increase or maintain the quality of learning a

While I was studying engineering I worked in a machine shop. In that time I hand scraped or lapped a good few bearings and surfaces. Fast forward six years, researching optical sensing, and I've had to pull those old tricks out of the
