It sounds like women who grow up hearing they can be whoever they want to be tend to not want to be techies. I don't blame them. If I were any good at anything else I wouldn't do STEM for a living, either. It's a thankless jo

I might be an arsehole, but I'm not a rapist. If the other people aren't into it, then I'm out of there.

I'm not familiar with any of these musicians, so I'm going to have to check them out. Thanks! I was lucky enough to score a second-hand set of Deutche Grammophon's Complete Beethoven Edition at an estate sale, and I like

Not just millennials. I'm part of the rearguard of Generation X, and I renounced Christianity as soon as I had the economic freedom to do so (it's safer to be closeted when you're dependent on close-minded parents). I haven&#

Moderation's easy in a decentralized model: run your own server, and refuse to federate with servers that are run by (or used by) people you consider to be assholes. Server admins can easily band together to contain (or isolate) "

I think the author could get most of what they want by getting a used T-series ThinkPad and installing OpenBSD on it, but that's just my preference. If they're happy with this setup, that's their business.

I'd say they should use ActivityPub[1] instead of wasting time on their own incompatible solution, but quite frankly I don't want Twitter federating with Mastodon. We get our fill of chuds with anime avatars thanks to Pleroma, and

I'm tempted to suggest that the suckless people are on Linux because they can't handle OpenBSD or Plan 9, but that would be cruel.

Seems legit. I identify as an OpenBSD user for reasons I suspect are true of many GNU/Linux users: I had to choose OpenBSD for myself, and make a not-exactly-trivial effort to not only get it installed, but learn how to use it effect

I think the author's real agenda comes through when they talk about younger workers being more pliant. He doesn't want workers who stand up for themselves (or their fellow workers).
