This sounds like hell. Why on earth would you want that? Open the app, go to the account, enter the money with specificity, select the account to transfer it to, click the button. Sure, being able to say "Transfer 200 to Steve" is

I must say, I'm not HUGELY impressed with a website that lets me, unauthenticated, upload files of an arbitrary size. Just posted a 500mb dmg file to their server. If anyone is practicing for their B1 Dutch exam, feel free to use this

A Mercedes C-Class, 2023 model, also has no way to pause the music with physical buttons. It has a volume switch, and that clicks in, but doing the Airpod double click doesn't do anything. It just mutes the music. Instead you have to e

I think he decapitated it for his Vision Pro, so that he could lap the Mouse/Keyboard better. I think it is crazy to decapitate a 2-3k+ laptop to make it an accessory for a 3.5k VR headset.

It does sound radical, at least to me. We've been abstracting away for years. Programming languages are an abstraction away from machine code. Libraries abstract away things like common sort, search algorithms. Despite that, I still th

You're right. My bad. I worked on a modernisation project for the DVB version of this in 2018. Internally we used to refer to it as Teletext, hence my confusion.

Ah, my apologies then. My confusion was that I didn't think there was a difference between the current mechanism and the old one.

It was just a needlessly disruptive move to cynically try to get an audience that would never be able to use their new services onto a new platform. Someone using Teletext in 2018 was not going to be able to navigate the world of BBCs inter

Is that true? I thought the protests in 2020 stopped the shut off? Teletext and BBC Red Button are essentially the same, just with quite a few lick of paints. I think you can still access Red Button to this day?

Edit: I use Teletext here when I actually meant the BBCs DVB version. We would still internally refer to it as Teletext. I worked on the infrastructure for Teletext at the BBC as late as 2018. We were charged with modernising the infrastruc

...Which required legislative efforts right? Like, we didn't just all decide to stop. We identified the issues, and made steps towards stopping it. If there was no bans they'd still use it.

I'm by no means an economist nor do I pretend I have the answers to the questions. But my initial view of UBI is to ensure that people can afford their basic necessities. I've heard plenty of ways to which UBI could be funded - in

You can work on multiple problems at once. And this problem is actually just multiple smaller problems, that are actually an issue in society today, that also need to be solved.

Sure, but that's not quite what I mean. I'm not necessarily worried about a life without meaning, or want. Hell, in the absolutely best case AI enables that utopian world of allowing people to focus on their passions and achieve t

This article isn't asking us to stop it. It is talking about planning for a world in which AI displaces labour. And even if this isn't the technology to do that, the fact we have absolutely 0 plan for a world beyond labour is frig

Then we should start planning now by stopping the notion that being a good, moral person includes earning a wage. There are big political issues with achieving UBI. One of them is reversing that notion. I grew up in a poor family, one time,

I implemented Q Learning in University. Only very basic, sort of like the Mario style Q-Learning. It's quite intuitive, as a concept. You do need to know the expected outputs - positive rewards and negative.

In what world would Apple allow a piracy app on their AppStore? This may change with the EU demanding other AppStores - but as of right now it would be unworkable.

I don't agree that it is unnecessary. I think Spotify's aesthetic and design is one of the things that keeps people from moving over to other platforms. Nobody wants to use programmer art software. And these things are more carefu

I'll add to this as well, since it's a comment I see a lot. I'm not convinced that people would be willing to go back to Piracy. I think the convenience of being able to listen to any song at any time immediately without havi
