I would reconsider some of the assumptions in your first statement. How or what would you define as "rational greed"? If you have an example that would be best since we wouldn't have to discuss in hypotheticals :)

I agree (I am one of them), but there are also lots of people who get into business and start a company for the exact opposite reason: cash out as big and as fast as possible.

I disagree, Tom. You see, I believe entrepreneurs are heroes, and as such they need to lead and guide people who are unwilling to lead themselves for the greater benefit of all.

In an ideal world, this is true. However, pay attention to what the ingredients of that seed are. That is why there are "startups" (the type I described in the article) and then there are Startups.
