Love Gnucash... allows me to look at my expense history for more than a decade. I think it would benefit from some changes in the next major version though - the GL of account is good but requires a lot of work for example to track vendors.

Anyone knows why this conflict is coming to head now ? Is Automattic looking to go Public soon and needs to show hockey stick revenue growth ?

This is going to be interesting. It would be great to see more court tested clarity on trademarks used in Open Source - both abuse and fair use.

If most Published Research Findings are false, does not this mean this article is likely to be false as well ? :)

One more thing, I would suggest to make comparisons linkable - I was looking to share with folks the graph of how MySQL vs PostgreSQL is doing, sadly the URL still links to generic keyword comparison tool

Very cool. I was surprised though to see keywords seems to be hardcoded, would be great to be able to graph and keywords and phrases. Any decent search engine should be able to support that

Pretty cool. I wonder where it would develop - will Oodle release an Open Source version or will ideas be implemented in some new (or existing) Open Source solutions - ClickHouse, VictoriaMetrics etc.

BSL Is also not Open Source, it is another kind of Source Available issue. Of course you're free chose the license what is right of your business, but trying to use Open Source name in deceptive marketing is the problem.

Matt has chosen to keep Wordpress Opensource, and thanks to him for that. This allowed companies like WPEngine to exist... and focus their resources like marketing and maintaining their internal "fork" rather than contributing to

Looking at the License - This is not Open Source, but rather Source Available software. Looks great but do not appreciate deceptive marketing

There is so much self imposed hurt in Open Source. Many maintainers feel they owe something to their project community, even if they are rude, entitled, unhelpful bunch. It is self imposed though. In reality unless you have a Support agree

Hi, Having Open Source Project on GitHub does not mean you need to become less agile. First there will not be instantly 1000 of people sending you pull requests, second even if they do - you have no obligation to take them in. However if yo

Looking for target for your OTEL data checkout Coroot too - https://coroot.com/ Additionally to OTEL visualization it can use eBPF to generate traces for applications where OpenTelemetry installation can't be done.

Yeah. Would be interested to see how VictoriaMetrics compares to Mimir, not just Prometheus. To be fair many projects in Prometheus "long term store" space come and gone - Thanos, Cortex, M3

I think While OpenTSDB was reasonably general purpose, Graphite and RRDTools were done for very specific monitoring use cases.

Has things changed with InfluxDB 3.0 ? Previously InfluxDB was Open Core, with very crippled Community version (ie High Availability was Enterprise only)

Would be very interesting to hear about plans of MariaDB PLC and New CEO - what are they going to do differently and if that strategy makes sense. MariaDB does not need to win against MySQL, it really needs to win against PostgreSQL

Interesting thought. I wonder if someone did analyses on how long K1 tends to keep their companies before exist, and what is typical exit path - sell to strategic (Oracle? IBM?) sell to some other PE or take public

No. Not at all. I think there are two main points 1) "Everything being equal" Open Source Software provides more value than proprietary. 2) Most of blowback you see is not about proprietary software but behavior of abuse or &quo
