Here we go again... Just use X, forever, in all cases, is misguided whatever X is - a database, programming language, ... a vehicle. PostgreSQL is good for many things and default to PostgreSQL and use something else if clearly justified is

Finally all Open Source pretense is dropped. CockroachDB becomes Enterprise+Cloud database company with a free tier, not dissimilar from Oracle. The revenue driver as a driver for freemium tier is interesting as it seems like it would requ

First title is a bit misleading. ParadeDB is Open Core, which uses AGPL for Open Source version. When you talk about traction I wonder how many external contributors are you getting ?

I think it is great Sentry folks do not pretend it is Open Source. It is great to see innovation and we will see if it becomes popular. What I see is a lot of "single vendor" projects which carry most of development burden want t

I think what would also be very interesting in this case is to get latency histogram, This 36ms per second can be 1000 stalls of 36microseconds which might not be significant for your app or it could be one giant 36ms stall... which can b

Oh my, Sensational headline but very poor benchmark. MySQL is known to have default configuration optimized for using minimal resources, rather than utilizing full server resources as such it has little value to benchmark in this configura

What is the fuss about ? Of course if you have root access you have access to any process memory and also can intercept communication before encryption takes place. We use similar approach in Coroot to get fantastic observability insights w

OpenTelemetry is interesting, On one side it is designed as the "commodity feeder" to number of proprietary backends as DataDog, on other hand we see good development of Open Source solutions as SigNoz and Coroot with good Otel

Not sure if this is intentional, but recent actions by Oracle are not helping MySQL adoption. It is great we have PostgreSQL and MariaDB but neither is complete MySQL replacement in all cases.
