Regardless of your stance on the entire Mega issue, no-one can deny that the raid is simply terrifying. Personally I have no clue how they justified such a heavily armed response particularly considering the fact that Dotcom never posed a p

Sounds exceptionally sketchy. They claim Twitter, Google+, etc is a waste of time/money? It's your money, if you're willing to have it 'wasted' then they should at least give other networks a try. It's your com

I've used both Windows Phone and iOS quite extensively and one of the few things I think WP does well is the UI. To give Apple credit, the new design looks incredibly different whilst maintaining the familiarity.

Interesting that most of the well known UK events don't get a mention. HN London is Europe's largest regular tech event for example. Side-point: I've been to LeWeb a few times and I have yet to meet a single person who felt t

Out of curiosity, why not just send a letter in the post? Pretty hard to trace an anonymous letter. EDIT: Just spotted the update. Question answered.

Purely anecdotal I'm afraid but considering how pg likes to keep the algorithms relatively secret, it's probably as good as you'll get. Anyway, a good friend (and a relatively new member of HN) upvoted a post (not my post) and after refresh

That's a reasonable summary however the comments that will fill this thread will inevitably focus on the "developer == plumber" analogy.

This entire thing is a publicity stunt for a comedians new show. This isn't newsworthy. The tax avoidance issues plaguing Apple & Google are categorically news, but this stunt is PR for a show, nothing more.

All solid advice. I'd like to add to it with some absolute basics: 1. Avoid sounding scripted at all costs. I'm sure you'd be more comfortable practicing a certain pitch but a rehearsed script is obvious to everyone in the room. Sounding na

It's a racial slur against the irish. - Only in the US. If you were to call an Irish person a mick anywhere outside of the US you'd be met with a confused look and them re-introducing themselves with their actual name.
