Helium party balloons are Evil. They escape and end up as non-decomposable trash in the wilderness. This is not a theoretic concern: I usually find one or more every year.

May I suggest DomTerm ( https://domterm.org )? It has builtin tabs and tiling, which can dragged and reordered with the mouse. It works very nicely (using the GoldenLayout package).

We ended up paying a total commission of 1.5% selling our house in Cupertino, CA, but that was a special situation. The listing agent agreed to accept a 1.5% commission, as the house sold itself - more easily than we expected. (We got 21

This works better if there are distinct escape sequences to mark the start and end of stderr output, as in DomTerm ( http://domterm.org/Wire-byte-protocol.html#Special-sequences... ). I created a fork ( https://gith

The DomTerm terminal emulator ( https://domterm.org ) also uses WebSockets. The "server" is written in C, and handles pttys, command processing, help, and more. It uses libwebsockets ( https://libwebsockets.

A main goal of DomTerm is to support "rich" REPL environments, similar to Jupyter.

I wasn't able to run GateOne. (I tried the online demo - not there; building from source - a Python stacktrace; and I looked for prebuilt binaries.) It looks like most of the code (including the escape sequence handling) is in Python.

There was a bad (malicious) .htaccess file. I've removed it, but there remains the question of how it got there. Added: The domterm.org directory in my home directory on DreamHost (from which domterm.org is hosted) was group and world

No reports of anything like that before. DomTerm.org is hosted under my DreamHost account, which also hosts my personal stuff, including bothner.com.

XMLTerm was an inspiration to me, and you can think of DomTerm as my attempt to combine the ideas of XMLTerm (graphics, logical structure of output, smart interaction) with a solid xterm-compatible terminal emulator. The most important diff

Based on trying Hyper out (a version from April), and the web-site, I can list these differeences. (I could be wrong about them, and I'm sure Hyper has other nifty features, perhaps as an extension.) Applications under DomTerm can &qu

I too though XMLterm very cool - and I hope DomTerm can fill its place. The author of XMLterm (R. Saravanan) more recently developed GraphTerm ( https://github.com/mitotic/graphterm ) but has not had time to continue wor

The overhead of an HTML DOM for terminal text is substantial and unfortunate - but does it matter once you have a few browser tabs displaying typical "modern" web pages?

Many terminals recognize URLs. DomTerm also recognizes 'FILENAME:LINE:COLUMN:' as in error messages emitted by many compilers. Clicking on such a link opens an editor window at the specified FILE:COLUMN position. The editor is cu

FWIW DomTerm doesn't really need Electron. Any embedded browser can work - using 'chrome --app=MAGIC_URL' works pretty well. The main thing Electron is used for are the menubar and a context menu - and those can be simulated

I have a lot of sympathy for this point of view: One of the goals of DomTerm ( http://domterm.org ) is that you want more than a terminal emulator for a shell or a REPL. See the "A better REPL console" section in https

DomTerm ( https://domterm.org ) can "embed" HTML in the output. So to "print" hello.md in an existing DomTerm window you can do: pandoc hello.md | domterm hcat This does a much better job than mdcat, because i
