I agree. The only questionable part is the stuff like *(uint16_t *)q = D; q += 2; // non-aligned access OK *(uint32_t *)q = literal; instead of memcpy(q, &D, sizeof(uint16_t)); q += 2; // non-aligned

Eh. I feel like long variable names would obscure the algorithm. And bit shifting and array operations aren't interchangeable…. C just tends to look like line noise for numerical algorithms sometimes.

As someone who works with Delphi and C++Builder for a job… yeah, it's the single shittiest development environment ever conceived by man, and they charge exorbitant prices for it. It's actually gotten so bad that my company is opt

What the heck? Are there no antitrust laws or do they just not apply to Samsung? One family-owned conglomerate controlling 20% of a nation's GDP and basically all industries belongs in some dystopian TV show, not real life….

I think the parent is referring to the tendency of Asian design to be more ‘fun/cute’ than ‘modern/flat’. There's less infatuation with low contrast flat designs in Asian websites and apps. Ads are somewhat invasive in both.

I kinda like that, actually. It's more usable to me. I'm not a huge fan of current “modern” Western design trends. Asian websites do have a tendency to be a mish-mash of incompatible UI patterns though (IME, but my experience is l

BSD and Solaris (which also has kqueue, and something else IIRC) got this really right while Linux got this really wrong. I still prefer NT's IOCP, but kqueue isn't bad. epoll… is what happens when you get someone who's nev

VMS could run a versioned FS in <128MB of RAM, so there's really nothing conceptually in the way. I bet with dedup off and some tweaking you can get ZFS to run in very little memory.

PCPP is basically “Referral Links: The Website” so I think they probably make some decent money from vendors. I doubt the ad revenue is much since the target audience probably uses ad blockers.
