The deal has been signed so many times, how on earth have the contents not been leaked yet? Or do they never show the patents to the companies they extort money from and just threaten them with legal action?

Seeing as the average age in my industry is probably 25 I'd say it's not going to happen. The young ones are quite happy to be abused (and take some perverse enjoyment out of it). People change companies frequently, but all the companies my

It's been proven repeatedly during the last 100 years that overtime doesn't work. Yet it falls on deaf ears in my industry. I've worked for 10 years in games development. Every single company had unpaid mandatory overtime. It's depressing.

Well handled, you sound like a nice company. Good luck. You're still an online advertiser, and god knows we've got enough of these.

Remember how you could just talk to people any way you'd like (email, IRC, lists, usenet, forums, IM etc.)? Forget that, that's boring (or rather inconvenient for us to intercept). Talk to people though us so we can read your conversation w

No truetype font will replace a pixel perfect bitmapped font. Not until we have displays with ridiculous dpi. And until that happens you can't beat terminus as it's perfect. Yes, I know it's meant for print, but people here mention it in th

I'm getting tired of all this huggy feely advice on how to connect with your inner user. I guess if you're a hip and with it developer selling, errr, I mean providing solutions and positive experiences this is all valuable and thought provo

By that definition any and all investment is speculation. Does this word mean anything on its own then? Though the fervour with which I deny being one proves it must.

I don't think I'm a speculator. I just started mining back in the day when CPU mining was still viable. Early in the day when we got a 50 bitcoin batch every other week. I didn't buy a single bitcoin. I just sold the ones I mined. Is this r

The barrier to entry is a good thing, kind of a safeguard for new users. You are storing real money on your computer, you need to be able to keep that safe. I'm sure someone will offer banking services in the future to solve this "problem"

Obviously, you are absolutely right. Then again, as much as I despise myself for it I did make a killing last time a bunch of idiots started buying them for >20$ a pop so I wouldn't mind. Taking money from speculators and giving money t

They are all totally meaningless without defining time scales. If you wait long enough the sun will burn out. Anyway, those 'Inevitabilities' don't sound inevitable to me. For example the broadcast TV one - the programs might be streamed ra

I've not seen an ad on the Internet since 2006. Apparently I'm evil and I'm bringing down the economy. If that means fewer jobs in advertising I count that as a win.

Very solid rules. I (and everyone else on my project) break the one about commenting out code all the time. When you have 20 people committing the same file over and over every day it's hard to find something in the history.

If you want a more specific answer ask a more specific question - don't just keep rejecting answers by adding new conditions. Just tell us what it is you want done.

Brilliant. Reading the comments I cannot help but think of Poe's law ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Poe%27s_law ). Some poeple can't tell this is satire despite or maybe because of how ridiculous and over the top it is.

You could spend a day writing a crude version of this or you could pay 3 quid for someone to write it for you. Open source weeps. Which brings me to the fact that there are already numerous programs that do this. Even one in python so you c
