I guess you can read the volume change without using a private API (like, a music player could use that function). If the volume changes, the user pressed the volume button. Makes you wonder if this app also works with the volume on the ip

I heared that when one of the large investment banks (forgot which one) got a new CEO, the first thing he did was stopping all IT outsourcing projects. He did realize a modern bank is, in fact, a software company, and you shouldn't outsourc

Maybe in your world (and mine). But in pourer countries, many people will prefer a surgeon who read the course online, than no surgeon at all. Mlearing and mhealth will be huge in developing countries.

While that sounds great, according to http://www.wolframalpha.com/input/?i=(+microsoft+profit+)+/+... it's actually 51 million/day. So it took them a full week to make the 250 million. Or was yesterday special?

Nice idea, but the redirect step is annoying: to do a redirect I first have to setup hosting myself. I'd rather point my dns at your IP, if I wanted to participate.

I heard a lot of good things about it, but it doesn't have the ability to work on remote files via SSH or (S)FTP. I might try it with an extra program, but it feels like a hassle.

I actually really miss Ultraedit. I think it's the only app I miss since switching to a mac. Things I haven't found in 1 app yet * Everything is keyboard driven. Most mac apps still need a lot of keyboard. * It has SSH/FTP integra

While I don't really have an opinion on wether they should or shouldn't buy Brizzly, I think it's quite interesting that (for some of us) our lives have become so public that it's fairly easy to find the pieces for this blogpost. Just 5 yea

Phonegap provides a thin wrapper around a webview. Titanium changed course with their 1.0 version, and now compiles the Javascript to native code. (they used to do the webview thing).

Things the mobile web is currently missing: * Native performance.(getting better, still not there). * Offline is way harder (possible, with manifests, but harder). * Monetization is harder: you can't just 'sell' a webapp. * The appstores (c

While I agree (fragmentation on J2ME is hell), that's kind of a weak argument. If things are worse in place A, that's not an argument things could also improve in place B. Certainly if one is a lot newer, and supposedly better.

Why VP8 instead of h264? VP8 will bring you firefox, which does support flash. h264 brings you i(Phone|Pod|Pad) and other hardware. Am I missing something?

Google seems to go all out to promote android, others be dammed: First with their free satnav (making TomTom lose 20% of it's value), now with tethering. While I love tethering, I wonder what carriers will think of it. I can imagine this b

While interesting (and different results than I expected), I would say uptime here is even more important than access times: I'd rather have all my visitors wait 0.04 sec more, than a small percentage not having the page work at all. Anothe

But Google does a lot of trafic shaping as well: If you Wget a video, you see the first bytes stream in really quickly, after which the speed goes down. No need for your ISP to do this as well. I assume Google tweaks it so your buffer doesn

While I love cloud services like these, I always wonder about it for the high-end accounts. With pricing at $3.60/hour of encoded video, it seems building your own render server seems to pay out fairly soon. For http://OneFrameOfFame.com
