I came here to say they should have charged for the app. But I just checked, and they do: It's not a free app, but one that costs $1.

Thanks for the great info posted here! That said, one small nitpick: I'm fairly sure Facebook does less revenue/user than you do: They have a billion users, and did (order of magnitude) 5 billion last year: That's $5/user/year. Which you do

are you sure people would have actually bought at the higher prices? The Groupon revenue is from actual sales, your data is from asking people. People often say they pay a lot more than they actually will press the "buy" button for.

You want to send messages to people you see? There is this other cool tech for that, it's called voice.

I wonder if this is good or bad news: After the twitter acquisition, the expensive product becomes free. I rather have a free product, but as a customer I would be worried shutdown is next.

I made a rough estimate what instagram spend on hosting just before FB bought them, and I wouldn't be surprised if that was a few 100K/month. At this scale, and especially AWS, this isn't cheap. If snapchat supposedly does 50 mln imgs/day,

While the article is right WebGL isn't supported on iOS, supposedly it IS supported in iAd ads on iOS, which are HTML5. So it is to be expected some future version of iOS will expand this to webviews/Safari. Also strange he says Unity has n

According to Crunchbase, they raised $3,750K. http://www.crunchbase.com/company/foodspotting I would roughly guess their 3 mln A round would be around 10 million valuation. So then the exit would be oke, but not super: No raise in valuati

Exactly. While I'm sure there are apps that cost > 6 million (How much has Path spend sofar?), the "several orders of magnitude" seems highly overstated for an MVP.

I think the changed PIN is stored on your card as an offset. When you enter your pin, both the offset and the code you entered are transmitted, so they always validate agains the original, non changed, PIN.

That strongly depends on the country. In the USA, probably. Here in europe there is no problem showing naked breasts in the evening news, when relevant. However, the US finds mild nudity the most offensive thing ever. Back on topic: unfor

Anybody used Paymill yet? Their docs all look fairly straightforward, and I'm strongly considering them for a project, but I'm interested in the experience of others.

Why a one time price? I thought at least EC2 made it possible to charge e.g. A few cts/hr, which I would guess would both get you more clients and more money then a one time fee, as the barrier to entry is lower. I wouldn't buy wowza serve

I heard about the new rules, but since it seems you have an actual prototype, not just some renders, I guessed that wouldn't be a problem for this project. Not saying you made a wrong choice, just interested. Thnx for the answer!

Nope, it's the reverse, so that can't be the case. Some quick googling: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electricity_pricing US is between 8-17 cents. EU is 20-30+. See also http://blogs.platts.com/2012/11/20/electric_prices/

Could it be there is a mistake in your pricing example: (e.g. 24 t-shirts with 1 color front & back print is $8.66 + $0.25 = $8.91/ea) The table says 24 shirts, 1 color is $7.28. 2 colors is $8.66. Should it be 2 colors? Or doe
