My comment was trying to address the fact that the current 3-days in the office rules are probably just a coarse grained response to the very real and present problem that companies are facing right now. Downsizing the office space to ensur

I do not know if this will make you change your opinion, but at least it will "inform" it a bit better: "The Man in the High Castle" (i.e. the one with the alternate WWII ending) was allegedly "plotted" by usin

Ok but... let's just pull a Pareto here and assume that times requiring the team to be together in the office are 20% of the total working time of any project. You are now paying rent (and utilities) for a space that is severely unde

Too late for edit: "cost of a licence is not really low" should have been "of a licence is NOW really low". I do not really disagree with the points that were posted in response, anyway. I just stated that "working

In my experience, the moment you bring a non-MS Office document to a meeting with people who pay you for the content of your document you are always risking to have problems/complains about one or more images going missing, the font

If you are talking of MS Office... I am afraid that yes, the various free/open alternatives (especially to Word) were a wasted effort (of course, it could be that MS made their products more affordable in part because they were worried

I think I just needed to be sure you used the full size one. I'll look for a dark one and make sure it is a model for warm climates (I suppose a winter/ski version could be a bit too much to wear in bed, especially folded). Thank

Let me understand... you use their "neckwear" and pull it down on your eyes instead of around your neck/mouth? If yes... they seem o sell it in full and half size. Do you use the half size? a full one folded in two? (I am cur

Sorry, seen this only now. Yep, I do consider these states, and yes, I am aware that trying to scale up to a "simple" rule engine is a huge effort. Personally I always worked with relatively simple state machines and always wrote

Interesting, thanks! I have zero experience (or knowledge) of Kubernetes, but I feel this somehow strengthens my idea that SM can be a very powerful tool indeed when dealing with some specific problem.

I agree on the fact that you may have edge cases cropping up in production... still, in my experience this approach makes adjusting (either by introducing new States, or by altering the logic that guides a State Transition) much easier beca

Not sure about the specifics but yes, in cases like the one I described in my oriignal post, the "header" state will not change immediately but some kind of service thread would periodically revisit the active headers (i.e. anythi

Not that I am aware of, apart from the problem of implementation and design/documentation starting to drift apart ... but as you surely know this is not a problem with SM per se.

Not that I know of (so I'd like to see if someone can suggest anything). In practice, what I have always done is to decompose the "object" into a set of components. Each of these components can be in a number of states, and t

Is there a way to add entries to this collection, or do you only list museums you have been personally been at? I ask because I tried look for listings of places I know well (e.g. Turin, Italy or Budapest, Hungary) and found that the closes

Allow me to add a bit of context (my first computer was an Apple ][, Xmas 1979). Yes, computers at that time stsrted with a Basic prompt... because there was no appstore, and (at the start) very little in terms of apps. You were supposed to

This is because Italy has lots of small towns/villages. Large cities (e.g. Milan) are an entirely different story. Also, if you live outside of large cities... you can't do much without a car, which implies another set of problems

Last year I got a bunch of these on eBay. Not letter sets but abstract patterns (the idea is to use these for backgrounds in my small-size drawings). Haven't used one yet, but finding them was quite a trip through memory lane.
