Hi HN, I'm sharing this project because it's finally in a state I'm happy to show to others. It's my first effort to make use of the skills you learn in Fast.ai's MOOC (part 1). The Fast.ai course encourages experim

While I was in undergrad (early 2010s at a major public university) the engineering machines dual-booted Windows and RHEL. We also had servers running RHEL, accessible via VNC and SSH. I liked the setup, it was very reliable and I found it

I have a personal project that saves state to the URL's hash ( https://www.rebalancecalc.com ). I do that because I wanted users to be able to save their state without burdening those users with accounts or burdening myself w

My understanding is that many of the oligarchs quite literally stole what they have during the 1990s free-for-all (Soviet collapse). This is opposed to many western business people who won by making better products and generally advancing o

That link is cool, I wasn't aware the CIA has a literal VC firm! Still, I'm skeptical. The link doesn't really say In-Q-Tel influenced Google directly, I especially don't see evidence for influence during Google's e

Off the top of my head, disabling uBlock has been the only way to unblock on-and-off trouble with some ATT-owned websites (ATT's own website, ATTWatchTV.com, etc) and owner.ford.com (original, the beta works fine). My experience has be

I know the word gets a bad rap, but I feel entitlement is a better word. Driving is a privilege, you have to prove yourself worthy and it can be revoked relatively easily. Voting is (typically) a positive right - an entitlement, it’s gurant

Funny anecdote, my fiance used to live in midtown Detroit near the Whole Foods. At the time the groceries situation was worse, it was more-or-less a food desert other than that Whole Foods [0]. I don't know how folks who can't aff

I disagree with this assertion. Say you move to a lower cost of living area, say 6% cheaper, and your wages decrease by the same amount as the change in COL. Now all your expenses are 6% lower, but your money left after expenses is also 6%

It’s been shockingly easy, actually! I do relatively few orders (2 per month) and can get a record of my filled orders [0] on the day I know my buys will occur. I plug those automated buys into a spreadsheet where I maintain a record of my

Dang, I was looking everywhere for something like this just a couple months ago! I ended up digging through the GDAX API docs, writing a node script, and scheduling it [0], but I'd rather not be in the business of script maintenance. T
