Hm, why wouldn't that be embedded? How do you define embedded? One of my application is a simple "blog-like" webservice where you can either use a SQLite db or Postgres. Personally I often prefer SQLite because it doesn'

Ah, yes, mea culpa. Was browsing on the phone and did miss that link indeed. Is is also okay to store big data that would otherwise go into another storage like e.g. blog-posts? I mean the content could also be modeled as a leaf-node and no

Awesome work, congrats. For someone who never did anything datalog I didn't see an example in the repo and the docs (docs.rs) could need some more content. I hope to see a 1.0 at some point and performance that can compete with SQLite.

Just a sidenote: One such detail is the timeframe... I am my own boss and I love to do contract work, but I cannot say "Yes, I will do this", commit to it and then after months the money is raised and I am drowning in projects.

Whenever someone says that, it's immediately clear which country they come from. God's own... The land of the free. I am older now and sooo happy I had the luck to be born in a country where studying is not a debt-trap.

I am on arch for over 10 years and I had issues with audio. They could hear me, but I couldn't here them. Not on speakers, not on headphones. We even tried X11, just to make sure... No idea why I mentioned wayland, I blame it on the te

Counter example: installed zoom years ago for a job interview Didn't work (Linux, Wayland even). We switched to discord for the interview. Uninstalled zoom, never installed it again. All my clients use alternatives and I am sooo glad.

I would welcome something, but not the so called solutions that go under the buzzword "passwordless". Shoulder-surfing isn't a problem for me, phishing worked when I was 12 and the internet was new, keyloggers... Yup, possibl

A long, easy to remember, but hard go guess password, that is securely hashed on the other end, is an even better solution, that is proven and battle tested.

If you google passwordless, biometric solutions are one way to go, hence I mentioned them, not because I wad trying to put it into your mouth. If someone has access to my password they either got it by torture, a non or insufficient hashed

For the dystopian cyberpunk future where a few companies rule the world, yup. I will stay with passwords that only a quantum computer can break :) To elaborate a bit more, as we are already off topic: Biometric traits are a big nono for me.

The same is true for passwords. With every restriction, the space of possible passwords becomes smaller. Just 16 chars, you must use a number, a special character, but not any of these few of course... Just give it a length of 255 and peopl

I would rather be able not to be part of a Kammer. Leading my own company I hate having to pay the Wirtschaftskammer a mandatory fee. I don't need those lobbyists!

I love it, as long as it worked good, it was awesome. People that were poorer didn't have inferior public health insurance. That is a system I want to live in. Since the locust capitalists took over (11th January 1987!) it is going dow

You can't in Austria - you can additionally get a private insurance, but it's by no means mandatory. Although I pay most of my urgent stuff in cash, and get it back later (not everything), because otherwise I have to wait 3 months

Yes, logically I agree. I'd rather the species sees another millenium to deal with this, than "go extinct" before. Yet that is half the reason for the drama. The other half being Fukushima and Chernobyl. Humans are not ration

Let's be fair: it's clean on the CO2 front, but the nuclear waste will be relevant for 100.000 years! That is way, way longer than we have anything like civilization!

I haven't mentioned Rust. I love KISS and Zig's simplicity especially but there is two sides to programming. The engineers perspective and the user perspective. I am both and prefer to have more paid hours and safer software ;)

It's not a binary decision though. You can have some money in cash, some amount in real estate, gold, crypto... Depends on how much you have etc. But it's not a "everything has to be crypto" or nothing may.
