A simple example is the concept of living paycheck to paycheck... If you work on contract or hourly and payment is delayed (either because there weren't enough hours to work or your client is slow to pay), one of two things happens: 1)

I see the value of this type of service in theory - a good anchor point on which to set pricing for AirBNB listings is useful especially when you are first starting up. Unless you are hoping to run your listing hands-off and full-time (the

As someone who prefers high-DPI screens for workflow management across programs (spreadsheets, web layout, graphic design, etc.), this scaling problem in programs is a frequent frustration. Particularly working with media (DSLR images or 10

So, by extension, the vast majority of Photoshop sales are due to PSD lock-in? And the vast majority of Apple sales are due to iOS lock-in? I'm seeking a distinction here. If my statements about Adobe and Apple are not true, what makes

I don't understand your argument... The popular standards in all proprietary formats exert a "tax" on businesses and consumers in the context you describe. Witness Adobe with Photoshop and Flash, Apple with iOS devices, etc.

It's unfortunate that our current media climate requires it, but a straightforward, "accept the inherent risks" approach to the problem would be massacred by news outlets. Were Musk to say something like this, headlines could

Often, that is the case, though there is a lot of scrutiny on the patent trolls these days. We're also seeing great shifts in transparency on the part of the people held up by these IP bandits. Witness The Oatmeal vs. FunnyJunk: http:

Thanks! Glad you like it! I already had the data from the first area chart, so I built a line graph on the same timeline that just had market size as a % of 2012. Imported that as a mask in Photoshop and squished everything down to match. A
