I had an experience like this learning about rhyming words in school when I was little. "Hog", "log", and "bog" all rhymed, buy we couldn't figure out (not even the teacher) why "dog" (dowg?) sou

Ah, now I see what you mean by 'accuracy'. Each language does have its own counting rules. There's a separate PDF for each one describing the rules for that language, which is the cool part.

Different tools for different use cases. Your use cases seem to prioritize language support, update frequency, and speed (what do you mean by the accuracy part?). For this, Scc and Tokei would of course be better than UCC. The (admittedly n

For anyone interested in this sort of thing, there's also Unified Code Count (UCC) [1]. It has a lot of interesting design goals like being open and explicit about the counting rules, which is really useful if you want to predict thing

Interesting, but it requires adding a file to your machine. I'm constantly on different machines. Being able to log in, get all my info and settings, and then log out leaving the machine in its original state is invaluable to me.

Simply put: There's too much of it. Chrome is dead simple, minimal, and predictable. When I want something, I look in the one menu. Firefox, on the other hand, has multiple bars, multiple menus, sidebars, icons plus text. It's too

I try switching from Chrome to Firefox at least once a year, but the UI design keeps me firmly entrenched as a Chrome user.

That's not risk. That's likelihood. The article admits that the likelihood is low, but the severity could be high. Risk is a combination of severity and likelihood. The nuclear industry has an entire discipline (PRA) dedicated spe

Gotcha. I thought you were dismissing the possibility that it could be anything more serious than a "faux pas" if it was in fact improper.

I'm challenging the use of the phrase "faux pas" to describe actions of government representatives that could harm private entities. Whether and how it happened is irrelevant.

The document you linked shows that the case is Government Entity vs Private Entity. Anything improper that the government's attorneys do would be an abuse of power.

This particular tool lets you trade analysis time for accuracy (amount of false positives) depending on your choice of settings, which is pretty neat.

Off-hand, I don't know how it handles higher-order functions. It analyzes LLVM IR, not the source directly, so I guess it depends on how virtual methods are represented in LLVM IR and whether those instructions are supported or ignored

Although I'm technically judging in hindsight since I wasn't there, I don't think I'm being unfair in my judgement. I have experience in safety and I've seen better and worse safety reviews than this one. Although t

I don't think anyone is saying that it was malicious, but it was absolutely negligent. For people with decisional authority, organizational pressure is not an excuse. For people with responsibility, lapsed vigilance is not acceptable.

What you're describing is consumer protection, but a company isn't a consumer. The bank responsible for their own actions.
