Yes, it has suffered major improvements, but it still doesn't run everything. Also, online games with frequent updates, break often. Just my personal experience.

If this had authentication you could even expand its usage. A boolean might indicate if it's snowing in NY, for example (Read-Only for most people)

We do. Especially at night. Normally those red lights are placed around schools and such. If you're a responsible driver, you're already driving at the speed limit at those sites.

What if it was well-tested? What if it was well-typed? What if it was awesomely documented? Would that be ok? I'm asking, because a lot of the discussion in this post comes a single simple function being a dependency.
