Grew up near a forested area by the Danube river.. everyone and their dog had nets on their windows else the mosquitoes would turn your life into a nightmare.

I have zero trust on how they handle this, judging by your post it is justified. This is why I decided to bite the bullet and go flatpak for the likes of teams, slack and other proprietary software.

That's pretty disappointing, everyone and his dog running any sort of hosting company allows customers to set this kind of stuff from a web UI. It's probably a nod to the complexity and complications of running and developing offi

I use Android to check Twitter. Works fine for me, despite some annoyances, but no crashes like the one you described.

Ubuntu LTS popularity suggests 5 year timeframe is long enough. If people are happy with that, then why not be happy with Centos Stream which is also supported 5 years? In all likelihood it'll be as solid as it's ever been.

Jeff is showcasing his compute boards again, but for everyone else the stock Rpi4 with a cheapo USB3 Ethernet adapter works just great and can almost fully saturate 1Gbps - good enough for the majority of home users. Here's an article

Both + desktop windows and linux. Problems ranged from not working properly to at all. If you only need to support one platform maybe it's doable, otherwise just not worth it.

Xmpp on mobile is a sad story. Tried hard and failed implementing it at dayjob.

Or at least ffwd 2x 3x like YouTube does, this would be easier to implement.

Pixel 3a is well supported by Lineageos, I recommend installing it, though the Google Pixel cam app is indeed hard coded to only open previews in Google Photos, not any other gallery.

Signal and Telegram include audio/video functionality on the desktop. Also, not sure what they do to it (no Electron?), but Telegram feels super fast, really pleasant experience.

My experience as well. Bought an Athlon 3000G last year for £42, it's now over 100... I'll have to postpone building that PC for now.

Having recently moved (trying to, at least) to Signal, there are a few UX issues indeed that I can see as show stoppers for greater adoption, especially in the older, non-tech-savvy population: - get rid of the pin as a default option, it w

Yes, in terms of drama other parties have had more success and set the bar higher, but TV is (or should be) more than that. Maybe I am being naive.

Unpopular opinion: I agree to and support the BBC TV license. I think most of their TV and radio programmes are as good as they come. The Brits are lucky to have it. "But Netflix, Prime!.." - sorry, that's 99% dopamine induci

Same goes for Slack. To think that I can't have the logs of what I said is pretty incredible. So much regression since the days Pidgin was a thing.

Me too, there are so very few places online with good quality stuff.. it's sad. Let's not forget the case of the beloved H-online.com which could not sustain themselves despite top-notch quality. Race to the bottom indeed...

Venom isn't normally toxic if you ingest it,unless you have internal wounds that would allow it into the blood stream etc. Poisons are the toxic ones when ingested.
