Jumia operates exclusively (or close to) in Africa. It draws investments to Africa, it puts Africa on the tech map, and it helps its African customers. That's seems very positive for Africa.

I think the key is that they have a new President. Rafael Correa, the former President, was aligned with Venezuela and Chavez. Lenin Moreno, the new President, has been much more friendly to the US despite his first name...

Monzo is not "an app". It's a bank that can only be accessed through an app. Monzo is an actual bank that provides actual bank accounts. I think it's important to call it what it is instead of using buzzwords like "

The UK wasn't going to launch an assault on a foreign embassy in the middle of London, was it? Power is not the same as recklessness. Now, a covert operation in a third country when there are no cameras around, on the other hands...

The bigger guns always win. They can talk about the UN and international law all they want but in the end people notice the gun on your belt, not the paper on the table. It's been that way since the dawn of times. They can do that to B

This is the way it is. Anyone who's worked in the industry (or any industry?) knows from experience that this is the way it is. I'm sure that there are data available. A quick Googling for "productivity vs hours worked"

> Let's say that you are only truly productive at a flat rate of 40% of your work time That's not the case. Hourly productivity decreases at some point. The law of diminishing returns is at play here. Working longer hours leads

9am-9pm really is the period of presence in office. It's always that way in countries where the stats show high "working hours". It is also traditional in Chinese work culture to have a nap after lunch, which provides a break

My understanding is that they haven't built any structure yet but that they effectively occupy the shoal by guarding it with coast guard and navy ships: I.e. if you tried to reach the place you'd have to go past the Chinese Navy f

Well, I'm sure that American media aren't going to title "Russia sends US signal with MiG-laden warship off Florida"... But the Russian media might. Always check where those articles come from. Here it's Bloomberg.

People can repeat that the shoal is nearer the Philippines and I can repeat that, using the same examples I already have and others, it is quite irrelevant. The borders in the area where decided by Westerners, China was shortchanged and is

"Ownership" goes to whoever can hold to a piece of land. That's how the US and everyone else did it. Case in point is Commander Perry planting the US flag on Key West and no-one else being able to challenge it. Guam (and of c

The geopolitical motive is obviously there. US Navy ships in the area are there for that. What would people say if Russia and Cuba conducted joint navy exercises 25 miles off Key West?

Resisting is a perfectly valid choice. But the key is that before resisting you need to decide what you want to achieve, what will be the cost, and whether it is worth it. The fact is that in some situations (but not all) it is pointless to

What you describe does not look like the typical software developer job at all. Certainly not anyone can write software. In fact, many who see themselves as "coders" are not very good at it themselves. Edit: I've found it

China is a vast place, of course there are local dishes. But no-one would seriously even suggest that HK's food isn't Chinese food, or that their culture isn't Chinese. > The OP alludes that HK was kept under the yolk of B
