If by great you mean "great for malware makers" I guess so. HN has a big problem of pushing for changes hat benefit highly tech-literate people but in reality the majority of the market needs signed apps so they don't downloa

I don't really get the sense of this from the movie. The movie is straight up Gnosticism in a cyberpunk form, in the sense it appeared in during history. Kind of an offshoot of Christianity. You even get the main villain being the demi

cool, let's stop paying programmers then. You can write and maintain software for free. Because you'd do it without pay right? I mean, why are authors the ones who don't have to get paid?

Stoicism hasn't been popular since Victorian times. I think SV types and rationalists kind of revived it, since it was moral austerity without any real religious background. To an extent they do the same with meditation; it's some

No, it is more of a euphemism for "sobering up." Existed for quite awhile, usually used for drunks though. Has minor connotations of being an oddball health nut-people extolling the benefits of being immersed into chilly water.

This isn't always the case. If you are an introvert, work often is your main contact with other people. Work at home would be like working third shift for me, no "sunlight" of contact with other people. It'd be way too e

No sympathy. Cancel culture was all fine and good when it was used on people the progressive left didn't like, but when now it's applied to themselves? OMG its gone too far! I hope they enjoy the world they made.

There's something darkly funny about people so embarrassed to have a cleaning person in their house, that they create a solution that would put most cleaning people out of a job. The knowledge workers automate jobs away, leading pundit

about as worthwhile as Harvard is, to be blunt. It's really all about chasing what your target audience thinks is cool, isn't it? Some of us could really mock the kind of people our elites are, and find them just as distasteful as

I'm guessing they mean cognitive abilities in general. Taking a music lesson won't make the kid any smarter than if he didn't take it. He'll just interact with music up to the level of his general intelligence, and if he

The federalist isn't, it's articles are closer to national review but maybe more populist. It was a shock to see it was mentioned; it's not something like Unz or anything.

How on earth would any author make money from you paying $4 a month? Why don't we pay all computer programmers $10 an hour, that's pretty much the price equivalent of paying what you ask.
