Are those scenarios more or less likely than AWS lowering prices and in the future not kicking you off. If it takes less effort and time to build something with proprietary technology surely that is a benefit? You can then assess whether re

Too often there is a push to replace what is not actually understood in the first place.

What do you base the conclusion of that statement on? Other than stating there is a 'better' way you don't appear to have provided a rational as to why it is better.

I'd classify vi (and vim) as originally being ubiquitous not necessarily popular. They have been a necessary part of my career since the start. I'd assume that is true of a lot of people here.

Is being tech focused really better than being management focused? Surely that's just swapping one mis-focused model for another? I prefer to be in roles that are outcome and value focused. That should mean appropriate tech and sensibl

Surely Trumps most valid recourse would be to not use Twitter? Why is anything else close to appropriate? There are certainly better and more important things for him to be focused and working on at present. I'm not from the USA but I

That's were contact tracing and testing are key. If when a person is identified as having COVID you can identify who they have had contact with and test them you can reduce or ideally totally prevent onward infections. Effectively brea

Worth looking into SRE concepts such as Error budget and SLO/SLIs if you want to consider one way of tackling this at the org level. It does however need senior buy-in (like most things) to be effective.

That advice of starting with a Monolith has consistently been given by those involved in Microservices since the start. I remember a Fowler article in particular. Unfortunately the "if you only have a hammer everything is a nail"

Nothing to stop code reviews either. Just don't make them a gateway. Allow code to be merged then reviewed if necessary. If you have good common coding practices and testing then likely more than safe.

I've started with a non-stranger. Someone I would even at one point called a friend. It didn't end well. There are no guarantees. Other than not starting won't end in failure. It just won't start.

Is this maybe then analogous to the essential and accidental complexity premise that Fred Brooks put forwards? It may be that in painting the cost of accidental complexity can be reduced greatly but in photography due to necessary post-proc

Surely that very much depends on whether your product fits within the current or near future offering of Azure/AWS. The other side of that coin is that you use a build horizontal integration strategy to replace elements of the products

Ok, so not just masks. I don't know Taiwan's details but it sounds like they followed a test and trace strategy which is vastly different. Thanks for clarifying.

Only with other controls. It's ridiculous and will certainly lead to more deaths to suggest that only wearing certain types of masks is in any way a valid solution of any type. This sort of misdirected conversation will kill people. Pl

So you want to speculate on this? All evidence is strongly against what you are proposing. It would without doubt lead to more deaths. Why would anyone even consider the course of action you are proposing? I've already had people close
