That sounds like something that could be solved with a linter for prose. Though, I can't think of the search terms that would let me find such a solution, if it exists.

Ah, it's still exponential, but in the size of the type, and the constants of the complexity are a bit different, so you need around x30.

The fact that x1 is \y -> (y, y) is superficial, though. Something like x1 = Just also increases exponentially, and makes clear that using a deduplicated DAG for representing type terms doesn't solve this.

It still needs to ensure that one of the arms will always match. (just not executing any branch in that case is tricky, because the arms can return values)

So you're claiming that needing help to fix an issue in a language you don't at all know is bad? How is it supposed to work otherwise? In my opinion, the fact that you have an option of asking an expert in this situation is a good

Workarounds exist, like for every other example I mentioned. I am mostly referring to the commonly used dependency graph.

I suppose that prior art influences things. In my case, I went "a separate text editor won't fit, I need a REPL", and that basically filtered to just Forth and Lisp. It would be interesting to see what subset of Lisp would fi

Except that brainfuck was actively designed to make programming difficult, and as you can only increment and decrement, the performance is abysmal.

It is interesting how readable the proofs produced by ACL2 are. Also, the automation applies induction and generalizes conjectures, which is something that no other proof assistant I'm aware of does. The same authors also wrote "A

I don't think it's a good idea to make a password reset take 3 entire days. In this case, I'd say the costs outweigh the benefits.
